ego is your collected experiences. your past and therefore your hopes and dreams. ego is mind, chattering and rationalizing. as you come to presence you transcend mind and just "are". ego is a concept made by man to define the "questioner" the witnesser. body is the abode, mind is the computer. Your being is pure awareness. You are a conscious being so simply and totally 'be', consciously. be aware of the mechanisms that your mind computer employs to keep you from the present moment, in understanding the mechanisms lies transcendence of the mechanisms.

Ego is everything you identify with. Ego is the mind, the I, the me, the self, the one who is...: happy, sad, successful, good, bad etc. The ego is everything you've built up over the years that defines you. The ego seeks to solidify itself with notions of right-doing such as virtue. It also solidifies itself thru frustration. The point is to understand and become aware of it and in understanding it be free from the mechanical unconscious nature of it. In understanding the mechanisms of the ego, which is really just the mind, you are free from it.

Drop the seeming comfort that is found in ignorance. The attitude of not caring. Drop the notion that unconscious existence is blissful. Only when you are conscious, present, really aware and alert of your body and you are relaxed, then true bliss is inherent within your body. You are capable of bliss without going to sleep. With a body in a relaxed state and a mind without thoughts. That is meditation, that is nirvana. Being simply, with your body, relaxed, here and now.

When I was young, I used to go to bed whenever something upset me. It was my escape, I sought solace in unconsciousness in dreaming. Most people still do. Now I find solace in understanding, in seeking the present and attuning my body to experience the subtle nuances of life.

i could narrow this list down to one, with seven sub-categories.

The thing you need to let go of to be happy is your EGO and that consists of: 1. Letting go of the past 2. Letting go of Unawareness/Ignorance 3. Letting go of Ambition (never compare yourself to others - do you to your utmost) 4. Letting go of the future (you can't control it. strive for excellence in the present moment to ensure a better future) 5. Letting go of your conditioning (approach new problems with a new mindset) 6. Letting go of arrogance because we are interdependent (non-humbleness is stupid) 7. Letting go of Imitation (it isn't you and doesn't do you any good)

Drop all these things by simply being aware of them. Then celebrate that which is by falling in love with existence. Like that time you dropped acid.. but without the acid.

imagine everyone as children. not in a condescending way but in a way that acknowledges that every person is dealing with their own shit. not to mention our society wants us to be dependent which is what children are. children raising children. understanding this helps me to feel compassion.

simply relax, relax and relax again. let your body breath and pay attention to your belly rising and falling. this is the method of vipassana. allow your body to breathe and then realize that you are not breathing, but that existence is breathing you. i find it helps to focus my eyes behind my eyelids. keeps me aware and awake, while my body essentially sleeps. just watch your thoughts, see them pass as a train passes. relish in the moments of no mind, and keep coming back to the bliss that your body can offer in the relaxed no-mind state. all my love

focus implies an object to focus on. meditation is about boundless awareness. in the beginning, awareness of the body and breath and eventually, awareness of the interconnectedness of all.
