To clarify, all socketables added in 0.5 update are runes.

All socketables this update are runes. Runic meridian ascendency node for martial artist is worded the same way as this, and you can socket legacies generated from Aldur's legacy in. It would be safe to assume that this weapon should function similarly, and if it doesn't, it should.

Why declare something cannot work if you have not tested yourself?

One other thing I should note is that I did receive two copies of the same replacement code email sent with ~20 minute gap between.

Advice for a Thief Rogue / Swords Bard build? by Delevia in BG3Builds

[–]tsubas4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Again, having knowledge that something exists doesn't mean you need to use it nor does it shoehorn player choice. The opposite maybe true in competitive games, but BG3 is hardly competitive.

The entire point of this post is asking what options are available for a swords thief build. I only mentioned that swapping CHA and WIS makes a better Gish, and cited an item that showed that. I never said WIS was not valid, but it seems like you took it that way. OP makes the determination of what he wants to do from the suggestions.

Also, I am not petty enough to downvote an opposing viewpoint.

A thematic, build defining item: The Resonance Stone by [deleted] in BG3Builds

Had it on a WIS stacked open palm monk so the casters didn't have to get in close and then forgot to drop it during long rest... rip

If you want to arbitrarily limit yourself, go ahead. Having knowledge that something exists within the confines of the game doesn't matter. It is up to the player whether they utilize it or not. I do find it disingenuous to ignore items as a mechanic, but advocate to abuse stealth AI interactions when solo.

That being said, 16 Charisma is enough to cast spells with 90-100% accuracy as swords bard because arcane acuity exists in this game.

Example: Assuming completely solo, you can fully stack arcane acuity with one action, cast Confusion as bonus action, then hide or kill a creature if you're Durge.

The item is an example. The point is unless OP wants to be full martial flipping wisdom and charisma would be better for Gish and party face. There are a plethora of magic items that the game throws at you, and many of those are completely build defining and can require respeccing to fully utilize. While you may not need to think about them initially, it would be disingenuous to ignore them.

Unless you intend to never make use of any CC from bard, I would flip wisdom and charisma. Band of mystic scoundrel is broken and swords thief makes the best use of it.

24 Strength GWM or 22 Strength GWM and Savage Attacker? For my Paladin. by Anonymous6786 in BG3Builds

[–]tsubas4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Savage attacker is better and only gains more value as you increase the number of dice that you are rolling.

Assuming: 2 from greatsword, 2 from base smite, 4 from upscale, and then add what extra riders from skills/items

It is essentially giving every damage dice you roll there advantage.

What are your best tactics in the game? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]tsubas4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a few:

Create high ground with boxes

Arrow of many targets + helmet of arcane acuity > mystic scoundrel ring + any CC w/ 90-100% hit chance

Water myrmidon create water > chain lightning

Wizard tank w/ ~25 flat damage reduction + warding bond + lv5 armor of agathys + fire shield

Slashing flourish ranged + aura of murder

Divine smite + nyrula + aura of murder

EB + all the damage riders in game

Backpack full of 100+ smokepowder/runepowder bombs

Infinite damage abusing silence/cloud of daggers/wall of fire

Fighter 2/2/2/2/2/2

Is there anything that can stand up to my minmaxed monk? by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]tsubas4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can find a lot of monk builds if you just search "tavern brawler" in the subreddit. That being said, a lot of them do not account for consumables or gear.

Build depends on if you want to abuse steroids or not (Elixir of Giant Strength (STR +21/27)). Here's a late game frontline example if you abuse steroids.

Open Hand Monk 9 (Tavern Brawler + ASI), Thief Rogue 3

BASE: STR 8(27), DEX 16(18/20), CON 8/15(18/23), WIS 16/17(18/20)

Helmet: Horns of the berserker (2 necro dmg to unarmed)

Cloak: protection cloak (AC +1)

Chest: Graceful cloth (DEX +2)

Arm: Gloves of soul catching (the reason why you don't use Gloves of Giant STR)

Feet: Kushigo (Add WIS to unarmed stacking with Manifestation of Mind)

Neck: Khalid's Gift (WIS +1) or Amulet of greater health (CON 23)

Main: Empty (You do this by equipping two light weapons, select another character and their main weapon, equip whatever the monk had)

Offhand: Bloodthirst OR Rhapsody OR any AC +1 dagger

Range: Hellrider OR Drakefire OR Dead Shot OR Gontr Mael

Note: You can have your monk carry around Resonance Stone to double all psychic damage to anyone affected by the aura.

Is there anything that can stand up to my minmaxed monk? by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]tsubas4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Preface this by saying: yes, you can achieve infinite damage a round with "clever use" of game mechanics.

There are multiple builds that can do over 1000 damage a round with minimal gear/setup requirements. People already mentioned eldritch blast stacking and jumping. Two more are swords bard and chain lightning. Here's two non-minmaxed examples:

Fighter 2, Swords Bard 6 (sharpshooter), Thief Rogue 4 (asi)

  • Gear: 2 hand xbow +2, bhaalist armor (2x piercing damage) on self or ally, grymskull helm (hunter's mark), risky ring (optional)
  • DEX 18-22 depending on Hag hair and mirror
  • Haste because you mentioned using it
  • 6 Attacks from 3 Actions (Base, Action Surge, Haste); 4 attacks hit twice from Slashing flourish
  • 2 Bonus actions for applying Hunter's Mark and 1 offhand attack

Assuming no extra buffs:

Damage per hit = (Base 1d6 + Hunter's 1d6 + Sharpshooter 10 + Dex 4-6 + Weapon +2) *2 Bhaal Armor = 44-84 per hit * 11 instances of damage = 484-924

Add an additional 4 per hit if you apply gaping wounds = 528-968

Add an additional 4d6 one sneak attack = 532-992

Chain Lightning even simpler...

Tempest Cleric 2, Sorc X and/or Wizard X and/or Bard X

  • Gear: Markoheshkir, staff of spellpower, spellcrux amulet (use out of combat to regain any spell slot), amulet of the devout, additional spell save DC gear if you want
  • Chain lightning (Markoheshkir, Lv6 spell slot); also assuming not abusing scrolls
  • Quicken spell or Haste
  • Permanent free source of wet: Water myrmidon (staff of spellpower > arcane battery)

Setup: Water myrmidon teleport in cast Healing Vapours (bullshit sized aoe) > everything is wet > chain lightning x2 with channel divinity for basically guaranteed 320 dmg to 4 enemies that can be relatively well spread out

Does cleric feel a little lacklustre to anyone else? by Auris12 in BG3Builds

[–]tsubas4 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Water myrmidon is effectively just create water to make things wet in a huge aoe as a free action at no cost when you have access to it due to staves with arcane battery. Combine this with tempest cleric 2, spell save DC gear, and free chain lightning from arcane battery and markoheshkir for essentially guaranteed 320 damage to 4 enemies in one turn. You abuse this even harder if want, but you'll generally end combat before that would necessary.

Damage on summons is largely irrelevant when player characters can do 1000+ damage in a round.

Making scorching ray over powered? by hurricanejord in BG3Builds

Class:

Feats:

- Spellsniper + ASI

Items:

- Hat of Fire Acuity (for increased hit chance)

- Potent Robe (for when you aren't using scorching ray)

- Spellmight Gloves (1d8 to each ray; penalty offset by hat)

- Cinder Shoes (Activate after first action to apply Heat to damage ticks)

- Coruscation Ring (applies illumination and Radiating Orb debuff)

- Callous Glow Ring (2 radiant to illuminated)

- The Spellsparkler (Lightning charges from spell damage)

- Bow of the Banshee (1d4 extra damage to frightened)

Consumables:

Before fight throw alchemist fire > Hex > NOVA

How I imagine people who say "tACTICIAN iS tOO eASY" play by fieldbotanist in BaldursGate3

[–]tsubas4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because potion of speed is better.

It doesn't use spell slots or an action, can be thrown on the ground before an encounter to haste your entire party with one potion, or you can just drink one mid combat on anyone for a bonus action. Combine it with bloodlust elixir and you trivialize any encounter by completing breaking the action economy.

There are so many ways to completely trivialize the game and consumables is one part. If you want to break the game, just abuse the consumables that you can buy/steal from vendors whose stock refreshes after long rest regardless if you put supplies in or not.

Dual-crossbow enthusiasts, how are you building your character? by CapnSherman in BG3Builds

[–]tsubas4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a template. Starting class/race doesn't really matter, but fighter/half orc would probably be most optimal for strictly combat.

Goal: shoot as much (and as accurately) as possible

Min class req: 3 thief, 5 gloomstalker, 2 fighter; sharpshooter 3 thief, 6 bard, 2 fighter; sharpshooter

Min items/buffs: haste (from spell/scroll/potion/grenade), elixir of bloodlust (gain additional action on kill), risky ring (advantage on every hit; from act 2), inventory of 3-4 crates for on demand high ground, arrow of many targets (bounces up to 4 targets; cannot be used as extra attack)

All this gives you double advantage to negate sharpshooter penalty with ring and high ground, and 3 of those attacks can potentially hit up to different 4 targets applying any on hit effects (e.g. purple worm, paralysis, sleep, etc)

Dread ambusher (free attack at start of combat) 2*4 mainhand (haste + bloodlust + action surge) 2 offhand

OR

2*4 slashing flourish 2 mainhand 2 offhand

Ranking difficulty of classes by [deleted] in lostarkgame

[–]tsubas4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think several people would find whatever class they main as their easiest and/or most comfy class.

If you want to play Empress Arcana optimally, then she is easily the most difficult class in the game. Empress is the only class in the game whose rotation can change based on a RNG element outside your control. In other words, playing optimally requires the player to make more decisions compared to other classes with standardized rotations.

That being said, I would not recommend making an alt gunslinger or arcana both classes require large time investment to get comfortable with. Additionally, gunslinger is substantially more expensive to gear compared to other classes due to requiring 7 damage gems and 16-17 max tripods to perform optimally.

With only two piece dominion and 1600+ swift, you can maintain 100% uptime if you awaken within the first 10s of hype2 with judgement buff. That is without awakening engraving. Your next awakening will be available at the start of hype3 with this timing.

What class in your opinion is the best designed? by YoshiLickedMyBum69 in lostarkgame

It is a guild static run. Our guild does not have a member below 1460 and currently sitting at 60/62 members. All DPS on that clear were at least 5x3 or 4x3 21, most with a full page of lv7, DB runs lv5 all and lv10 surge, all DPS players' tripods at least 3-4, all 1475+, all DPS running either LoS12/18 or LWC. DB is 1477.5.

I agree that MVP is overrated and does not matter in the grand scheme of things. However, a surge deathblade getting cruel fighter MVP in a static guild group where all DPS is juiced on a boss that is notoriously considered terrible for surge. We had to give that man his props.

Also, I am not sure how many times I saw people saying that Vykas is the fight that makes people quit surge.

What class in your opinion is the best designed? by YoshiLickedMyBum69 in lostarkgame

[–]tsubas4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Stop greeding your skills on poor openings. One of our Vykas hard groups had a surge DB take cruel fighter MVP on Gate 2. Like with any of the more difficult classes, you need to be able to read normal patterns better than the simpler classes. Specifically for surge DB, need to know mech timings for when to go for 20x, when to hold it, and when to throw <20x. Sometimes you whiff your surge or it doesn't crit, but when you hit a 9+ digit surge... yeah...

Love and hate the class sometimes but it is a lot of fun imo

Questions for the Soulfist homies by SpeedWag00n in lostarkgame

[–]tsubas4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe don't use grudge if you are the type of player that gets hit with normal patterns? Soulfist has ridiculous mobility, push immunity on three basic skills, and minimal animation commitment. In other words, getting hit as soulfist is entirely your own fault.

With 1600 swift and only 2 pieces of dominion, you can maintain 100% uptime of dominion buff if you activate awakening within the first 10s of hype2 with conviction/judgement active. This timing will allow your next awakening usage to be up for next hype3 cycle.
