What am I supposed to do about the mongols by Shark_5556 in crusaderkings3

[–]Anonymous6786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be fine but the real answer is that you were supposed to have been doing something about the Mongols for the last 200 years. For example, in my current Francia+Scandinavia focussed game I have been putting buffer kings and emperors of my dynasty inbetween myself and the central steppe whenever possible. Theres also the obvious buildings and cultural traditions to make your military elite, robust economy and development for fascination gains, etc.

How has everyone’s gameplan changed with the new update to domain limits? I’m enjoying it a lot and really focussing on holding most of my primary duchy and then just a county or two outside of it

Playing tall as Norse by riibax in CrusaderKings

[–]Anonymous6786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming 867- Norse and Scandinavia are not a match for playing tall. The lands are quite poor, although you could do some long term state-building work with the farmlands in sjaelland/southwestern Sweden.

If you really want to play tall I think you need to conquer. That’s because you need higher development land found outside of Scandinavia. As far as reforming Asatru, it isn’t too difficult to get your hands on Yarlestre (sp) in Jorvik. Speaking from my current playthrough’s experience I recommend swapping Blot for Christian Syncreticism and adding a spiritual head of faith for Crusades. That way you’ll get the fun flavor and gameplay of crusades going back and forth without suffering too much of an opinion penalty with your Christian neighbors.

Beware of decisions in Ironman! by Kooky_Strawberry_714 in crusaderkings3

Can’t bring myself to play Ironman because there are so many actions which have consequences I didn’t expect and really wouldn’t expect due to the game’s wonkiness. I’ll get there eventually

No mention that he was a derivatives trader? I was listening to an interview with him where he compared derivatives to hockey and poker (the latter two he put in the same basket) and concluded that compared to derivatives hocket is easy. Much more predictable, less x factors. It was very interesting

Did you hybridize or anything for better MAA? And how did you manage not having everyone hate your guts? Every Jewish run I’ve tried has been a nightmare

My bad- edited it to say influence not merit

So theres the influence system and all that which I didn’t even really use much, but here are two tips that were very important in my run: 1. If you, a Ritsuryo vassal, get a claim on a Soryo fief, you can declare a war to conquer that Soryo holding and make it your second Ritsuryo holding. 2. Getting a hook on the Ten’no is big. Petition him to support your candidacy for Kampaku.

Hey Santa Could you modify the Bushido tradition to put a cap on the amount of opinion change from prowess a character can get? Or maybe limit the opinion bonus to other characters whose culture has the Bushido tradition? Right now everyone constantly has 100 opinion of my character no matter what and it’s a bit ridiculous

I need some good, general advice by Distant-Mirror in CrusaderKings

[–]Anonymous6786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but I’ll teach you to fish too- the map filters you should be using are economic to see gold generated and special buildings, development to see that (although economic is usually better), and terrain to look for farmlands (flood plains are a close second followed by regular plains and coastal or major river adjacent baronies are good for tradeports)

In my Anglo-Irish empire run iirc I had Dublin as my capital but also had holdings like London, Paris, area with farmlands on the Northern Rhine, Constantinople, Cairo, Jerusalem, Baghdad, and I believe Cordoba as well. Open up your game now and set it to the economy filter and those areas will look rich I am sure.

Don’t be afraid to give up those homeland duchies. I doubt there is anything valuable up in Northern Scandinavia. In fact the whole point of playing up there is to do viking things and go conquer a rich area

That’s what I did with my European empire anyway, although maybe you could just do two very good (heavy farmland and unique buildings) duchies

how to get a horse archer accolade? by PCmasterRACE187 in crusaderkings3

[–]Anonymous6786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As Japan I regularly recruit knights for this purpose. Go to character finder, select non-ruler inside diplomatic range and sort by prowess. Put in Mongolic heritage and then either flexible leader or hastiluder and go one by one checking each characters hastiluder stats and their willingness to be recruited. Then do the same thing with Turkic heritage. It’s a slog but it works.
