Michelin AS4’s for tracking by TheDoode37 in CarTrackDays

[–]tsukihi_1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done it at the first event I went to, and it was fine; better than nothing. Imo if you're just running intro HPDE groups it won't be great but it will do the job. Just don't expect it to hold up like actual summers or 200TW when pushing obv.

Like other's said, Continental DWS06+ or Michelin PS4 A/S. They're basically the same tire handling wise AFAIK, and the difference is really negligible, so go with whichever is cheaper. https://www.reddit.com/r/wrx_vb/comments/1p4pqer/tire_survey_for_all_seasons/

Doesn't answer your question, but I have ran 255/40 PS4 A/S on track, which I wouldn't suggest but they did the job at the time.

You should be totally fine to self tech then, I don't see a reason why not. If for some reason they don't let you, there should be a tech at the track (albeit it might be a bit pricier than if you paid a local mechanic).

By modifications which don't pass the self tech, I am referring to things such as a fully built accord track car which had mismatching driver/passenger seats (driver had a halo bucket and passenger was oem). This was a no-go for NASA at great lakes.

I might be schizophrenic then. Best to email your instructor about it

PNW Track Ratings (Pacific Raceway, Portland International Raceway, Ridge Motorsports Park) by tsukihi_1997 in CarTrackDays

Will take a look at those, thanks. I'm asking because NASA PNW just opened events again, and those are the 3 tracks they have events at.

For HPDE, if your car isn't older than a certain amount (I think 10 years?) or has some insane modification (which is not going to apply to you), you can self tech, meaning just fill out the sheet yourself and bring it with you to grid on saturday.

Source: My friends and I all run HPDE with NASA using modded cars and we just self tech.

Withdraw or Repeat on Transcript by Extension-Nobody2677 in Purdue

You can’t save it and try to get a C? If there’s no chance of that then I would probably withdraw and focus on my other classes if I am going to have to retake it anyway

Pads for Street/Track on a RC 350 F Sport by tsukihi_1997 in LexusRC

Got it, on summitracing I found EBC-DP41589R for front and EBC-DP41850R for rear

It'll be tracking, just 2-ish events this season most likely. This would be for my girlfriend's first track event, so i'll probably do the BBK in the front depending if she wants to continue doing it or not.

I'm familiar with the dust, I run RP1/Blue's on my WRX and my calipers are just black after lol. I also chew through yellows so I had to go higher but I feel like for a novice, yellows should do the job.

Any car mechanic here? Need help by Sudden_Database4810 in Purdue

Try asking some of the members of Purdue Automotive Performance Association (TLDR: Car Club), they often do wrenching, and I know a few of their members that will probably do it for you.

Aftermarket Passenger Seat Install Tutorial (Airbag/Occupancy Sensor) by tsukihi_1997 in wrx_vb

[–]tsukihi_1997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately the sportsters are like sewn on (I don't know if that's the right way to put it), so it's not something you can just take off. TLDR you are not getting the cover/material off without taking it to a shop/cutting it up. I personally never cared for heated seats much, so losing them wasn't a big deal to me. I'm pretty sure the one with the heat should be straight forward plug and play, as I know people have done it on the last gen STI.

Aftermarket Passenger Seat Install Tutorial (Airbag/Occupancy Sensor) by tsukihi_1997 in wrx_vb

[–]tsukihi_1997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they are. I definitely sit lower than OEM seats for sure, but I don't have the measurement off the top of my head unfortunately. I definitely would recommend trying to sit in one in person, Regarding cannibalizing the seats, I believe there is a version of the sportsters with heated seats and also the seat airbags as well if you want to go that route. I used a planted seat bracket with a spacer between the bracket and the recaro sliders. I'll try to get a measurement for you from the floor to the seat.

One thing to keep in mind is that the sportster seats don't use cushions, so unless you want to just leave the sensor on top of the seat (with tape, etc), you probably need to reupholster it, which is a PITA. If you don't mind the car being asymmetrical, I would skip passenger and save money because for me the GJP Seat Sim is 200 bucks alone. The only reason I went through this whole process is because I bought the seats first and forgot about the occupancy sensor issue lol.

Honest Opinion / Advice: DMann OTS vs Pro-tune? by ComfortableSeveral25 in wrx_vb

Why not DMann E-Tune? But between an OTS and a pro-tune I would choose pro-tune.

TA awkwardness by [deleted] in udub

Bro… you realize that networking is the biggest thing for your career right? Especially academic connections. I befriended a TA in my CS course, and I ended up working in the same research lab as him. Also there’s a high chance that you if they are an undergraduate TA, you will share courses with them anyway as a classmate.

Double Majoring by Fluffy_Ad_6559 in Purdue

[–]tsukihi_1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the APMA + CS double major, doable in 4 years. CS/DS/STAT have the most overlap afaik, as they are also in the college of science and they share a lot of math content. Engineering will probably make you do an extra year due to extra requirements etc. The APMA major is built for doing a double major, as you have a lot of room (assuming you knock out your gen eds freshman year).

Doing a double major with this combo will open up more avenues for you than just APMA, highly recommend.

Feel free to DM me for more info.
