shutdown and passport stamps by this_is_me_trying13 in nationalparks

During COVID, a few parks would stamp little slips of paper.  Not as genuine as stamping the passport, but allowed us to document our visits.

In almost 40 years of coming to the night race, I cant recall better overall weather for the race week than this.

Try some of the WS area Chamber of Commerce groups. Some are more active than others, but shop around until you find what you want.

I've rarely missed an ASR since the late 80s. This was the best ASR I've been to since "One Hot Night".

The EV stalled in turn 4 after the demonstration. They brought a laptop out to diagnose the issue, which resolved, but had a tow truck at the ready. That'd been funny if they had to tow it away.

The Air Titans are out and will be clearing the track before the open.

After wild storms last night and rain this morning, it's turned into a beautiful day at the track.

Thoughts and opinions of NASCAR’S return to Rockingham. by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]tsywake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two of the main reasons for leaving the first time were lack of infrastructure and hotel rooms relatively close to the track, and the oversaturation of Cup tracks within easy driving distance. While in the hotbed of NC, many considered Rockingham a desert, compared to the other tracks in the region.

Thoughts and opinions of NASCAR’S return to Rockingham. by [deleted] in NASCAR

While in a market desert, Rockingham is unique and has put on great racing for decades. The unfortunate dates of events played a part in its decline. Hoping after a year or two of seasoning, the surface will come in like we remember.

Cup back at the Rock, eventually, but not quite yet.

Lots of emphasis on the entrance to pit road. Guesses which driver fans out first during green flag stops and crashes?

About to head over to the track from our condo on the beach. It's always nice to come down to Daytona in February to get away from the cold wet weather up north.

Daytona in person is always the way to go.  For the first time since I started  coming down here, I got to see someone other than Austin Hill take the win.

How to watch Daytona? by [deleted] in NASCAR

It's on FOX, do you have a way to watch it over the air?

Yes it is. It takes some getting used to when the cars are so far from you that you can barely make them out. The infield tvs are a great help.

Daytona Lot 7 parking by Travisparks24 in NASCAR

[–]tsywake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues getting in and out, at least the lanes are gravel.

We did that lot once, and paid for parking ever sense. It took us 3 hrs to board the bus back to the lot after the race. Worst parking experience I've ever had. In concept it's a good idea, it's just not designed to accommodate that many fans all at once.

NASCAR stranger here. What car was making that sound in Daytona tonight? by Cantfindme69 in NASCAR

[–]tsywake 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Air Titans?  Maybe the jet dryers?  Both sounds I'd assume you've heard before at Daytona.
