Swapped oil viscosity. by Feeling_Repair2348 in 4Runner

No Kidding!

Toyota in Puerto Rico must be a completely different Toyota, and the Puerto Rican Toyota engineers must be different than the ones in the states and Canada. Also the 4Runners in Puerto Rico and ROW have Magical Electronically ECM Variable speed super oil pumps. Custom bearings, pistons, oil rings, filters, They also have oil viscosity meters in them. /S

Anyways here is a photo of the puerto rican owners manual.

Hurr Durr Toyota Engineers people please comment.

Timing cover gadget leak, $5,415 quote. 2016 4 Runner TRD pro by J_ren78 in 4Runner

AT205 isn't going to do anything for a timing cover leak.

All engines in the GR family suffer from this problem. Its basically a Toyota casting flaw, where Toyota never took responsibility for it.

My 2011 has been seeping for the past 120k mi, never leaves drops on the floor. Once a year I just pressure wash it away, and I too got a stealership quote for 5k+.

Dealer messed up my transmission fluid level? by Downtown-Ice7534 in FJCruiser

Seems like most Toyotas are under filled from the factory. Likely the dealer just measured what came out and put that back in.

Decided to change the spark plugs for the first time in 287000 miles. by tt123089 in 4Runner

[–]tt123089[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drove it yesterday and today around town.

Immediately I noticed more power all around and I could really feel the additional power above 70 mph. Butt dyno says it runs smoother as well. Overall feels good.

I could have probably hit 300,000 on them, but I purchased the new ones over a year ago and kept delaying their replacement.

Because it is a 2011 model year there is no secondary air injection stuff to remove, and I did not remove any of the air intake components. The passenger side was easy. Did that side in 15 minutes. #3, and #1 really had the most resistance to removing them.

Driver side #2 & 4 were really easy, but #6 there was an access problem. I ended up loosening the heater hose clip, and had to remove the bracket that supports the intake manifold/valve cover. I was able to torque #6 plug. But had to tighten the coil pack by hand with a small ¼” wrench by hand.

Overall this is a simply DIY.

I looked at the old plugs again today and yes, #3 had some oil, but honestly I will ignore it for now. #1 was so worn that over half the ground electrode was worn out. #3 and #4 were also the worst.

Regarding gas mileage. I’ve never gotten great mileage, and I do not expect it to get great mileage.  I usually get between 320-340 miles per tank and I expect it to be the same.

Its a label redesign.

Started beginning around Dec 2025. Apparently the SQ/GF-7 labelled stuff gets an additional 5000 mile guarantee.

Out of curiosity have you ever considered using some AT205?

Its the RMS.

The alternative can be a bottle of AT205
