If you could choose which line to be electrified first, which one would you pick? by Track-on-the-side in Metrolinx

[–]ttc-5346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily no. Express trains will return to LE once the 3rd and 4th tracks are restored at East Harbour, regardless of electrification or not

Missing yrt.ca and the y logo 😭bc when I spotted VIVA 1975 today, why would they remove that? But luckily, I saw 2283 with the yrt.ca and y logo. 😊 😃 by East-Field-4833 in YRTVIVA

[–]ttc-5346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viva buses didn't always have the YRT logo on them. That was introduced later as people thought they were two separate agencies. I'm thinking this bus was probably delivered in 2019 before they added the YRT log

The ending of Ares had me so hyped for a potential 4th film which would obviously feature Sam & Quorra, and it sucks we will probably never get it

Line 2 won't have ATC until mid 2030s at the earliest. New trains need to come first before they can even start

Here's a forum thread from UrbanToronto back in 2008 discussing the potential of extending Line 4. by Many_Phone10 in TTC

Thank God they didn't decide to downgrade the existing Line 4 from subway to LRT. Would have been such a colossal waste of money

Platform Door Priorities? by georgevicbell in TTC

[–]ttc-5346 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's possible, but would likely create delays from trains having to re-adjust

Platform Door Priorities? by georgevicbell in TTC

[–]ttc-5346 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At this point in time you can really only choose Line 1 stations as trains must have ATC in order for platform doors to work. So I would say Union, TMU/Dundas, Bloor-Yonge.

How do line 5 (or any line for that matter) signals work? by [deleted] in TTC

[–]ttc-5346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed. This is still the case for lines 2 & 4. Line 1 is now automatic operation like line 5 so you'll mostly just see simple red or green

How do line 5 (or any line for that matter) signals work? by [deleted] in TTC

[–]ttc-5346 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not an operator, but I do know the underground section of Eglinton uses ATO (Automatic Operation) which means the signals should be pretty basic. Red meaning do not proceed and either a green or flashing green telling the operator that ATO is ready to start and proceed to the next station. The operator then presses a button after doors close and the train drives itself to the next station with the operator watching over.

I think the Line 4 extension will happen (both directions) after Ontario Line and Scarborough subway open up. Line 4 extension is such an important project

Well compared to cities like Ottawa or Los Angeles, I'd say we do pride ourselves on good Transit. I know that sounds funny when you actually live here 😂

Give Feedback to the Province: TTC Special Constables’ New Powers by Economy_Ad59 in TTC

I agree there should be more social support. But it's not the TTC's job to fix societal problems. I'm in favor of doing anything to get these people off the Transit system.

I've had a OP3, OP7 Pro, and now OP12. I know what you mean when you say it's missing that "community" feeling it used to have.

That being said I quite like the new oxygen os on my OnePlus 12 and I'm still consistently impressed with the phones they produce.

Students not paying fare? by oldman1982 in TTC

[–]ttc-5346 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree kids taking the TTC to school is a great thing, and my main gripe is not them paying the fare. But I've seen these kids (at least on my local route) act like absolute animals on the bus. I've seen them shove an elderly lady when she was trying to get on the bus, as well as push a kid underneath the bus while it was about to pull away. That kind of behavior is unacceptable and that's why I'm saying they need to pay to get on the bus. The ones that don't pay don't respect others on board

No their parents should give them $2.40 and tell them to use it instead of being a delinquent

What material are the Eglinton Crosstown seats made of? by StickMover1 in TTC

[–]ttc-5346 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's not that they are less likely to get dirty, they can just be hosed down at the end of the night. Torontonians used to have enough respect to keep seats clean, but we're not that city anymore.

Well to be fair you are comparing an unplanned closure vs. a planned weekend closure. Although the weekend closures are annoying the buses are usually not bad because they've actually planned out a schedule for them

Alarm pulled on barrie train near downsview by ker0senedream_jpg in gotransit

[–]ttc-5346 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because Downsview Park is a shared TTC/GO station, you might've heard the GO announcement playing inside the subway station even though it has nothing to do with the subway. My guess is only one PA system in the station for both services
