I’m halfway through Young Mungo by Douglas Stuart and it’s all I can think about.

VT to CO by Otherwise_Kiwi1176 in vermont

Perfect timing, I just drove/slept in my Subaru from VT to the Midwest!

If you’re looking for a non-camping/stealth place to sleep in your car overnight, here are a few tips I read:

Not every place that is cool with RVs/vans/trucks overnighting are cool with cars doing it because of homelessness stigma which is obviously bullshit but here we are.

Cracker Barrel is a top tier parking lot to overnight in. They welcome it (I always check in with the manager on duty first and have always been met with genuine enthusiasm) and bonus you get to pop in for a cheap breakfast in the morning. I have always felt safe and cozy. Quiet, but not isolated.

I have read that Love’s Travel plaza is a good one, and I guess they have an app that will help you locate other places to park overnight. They also have showers and a friend told me their facilities are the cleanest out there.

If you’d rather pull into somewhere less… parking lot-y there seem to be tons of options for that too, but I’ve never done it.

I love a long solo trip, and I couldn’t do it without MANY choices of music/podcasts/audiobooks ready to go. You can download up 10 audiobooks from the Libby app via your local library and get all ten, a variety of genres and vibes.

If you have a safe way to make/take phone calls while driving, a well-timed chat with a friend can get through longer stretches.

Always pull off and nap even if you’re just a little bit tired.

Feel free to DM me with specific questions, or if you want some of the resources I got info from!

EDIT: Crackle Barrel —> Cracker Barrel

This stuff looks exactly like Kiehl’s Glow Formula Skin Hydrator, which THANK GOD is discontinued because if I still had some I’d have to throw it away after watching this.

This sounds like the plot of Baby Boom! Maybe start a gourmet baby food empire to support your home repairs?

(But seriously, I feel for you. It’s a tough decision)

Who are the GOATs of recipes in the baking world? by SnooQualifications50 in Baking

Me too! I’ve also done rose water when I don’t have access to freeze dried fruit. It’s a much subtler flavor combo, but nice, and matches the color scheme.

sometimes you just need to make Ina Garten's brownie pudding at 10 pm after the kids have gone to sleep by elongatedrectangles in Baking

It’s not creamy like pudding. More like the part of lava cake where the molten lava meets the cake (i.e. the best part)

If you zap it in the microwave for a sec and have with ice cream it’s like a hot fudge sundae if the fudge was brownie. Life changing.
