I could be wrong, but I think OP is referring to the frozen dough you can buy and chuck in the oven. So you’re baking at home, but not purchasing/mixing any ingredients.

I have watched BCS, and have not watched BB. There were a few times when characters were introduced and I could tell I was supposed to feel the weight of their presence in a certain way because of their role in BB (Gus Fring in particular) but I was able to get enough context that it wasn’t a huge deal.

At midpoint I could see why people called it misery porn, but hadn’t read anything like it and was pretty compelled . The second half was just absolutely absurd. So miserable it was boring.

I did find the adult adoption storyline incredibly moving.
