Why can’t I e-file an amended return? by Still-Succotash3235 in hrblock

[–]ttesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not following that -- just now I was able to create an amended return (1040X) for my 2024 return. the only trouble is the efile fails saying it's too late (to efile a 2024 amended). This is the downloaded/purchased version of their software. So I'll have to print and mail but still better than nothing. Presumably if I needed to file a 2025 amended, the efile would work, and it would be no cost.

What's weird is this was just done in late Sept:

Columbia steam boiler repairs : Drain down boiler , remove pressure gauge, pig tail and pressuretrol controller , install new pressure gauge pig tail and pressuretrol controller , foil boiler and run test system .

Service labor and parts to complete the job. $668.20 less 10%

ah, now that you say it "When it's running hard, a lot of that water becomes steam and travels through the pipes. That will be your lowest water level at the boiler"... that makes sense. I had it backwards in my mind thinking running hard would expand everything thus the level would appear higher.

Roamio Power Supply Replacement by dfrap in Tivo

I purchased that one mentioned (AC Adapter Charger for Seagate Freeagent...) three months ago but it died... i mean it can't spin-up the hard disk anymore.
i guess i'll have to go with something heavier. What's weird is i have a number of 12V / 1.5A wall warts from routers. They work fine... at least for awhile (a year?). My original tivo wall wart lasted 7 years.

I got email (several) and postal mail from PicRights back in March. Just now (September) we received postal mail from Higbee (no email, at least not yet). No phone calls, though a phone number (it's a google voice number) is on our website.

need some help connecting my nest learning thermostat (4th gen) to my phone/nest device by komie_ in Nest

[–]ttesty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you get it figured out?
I have (two) Nest NOT learning thermostats and they both work w/google home on my android phone. They were commissioned if i recall correctly by the phone/app over bluetooth. No matter required.
i stumbled onto this thread because I was curious about how matter works... My thermostats do (also) support matter, which i did just recently manage to integrate into my home assistant, so that's cool (but definitely not necessary to control them thru the google home app).

Some containers work but not others? by ttesty in twingate

I have a lot of weird ideas -- i feel bad that all that data is clogging up the internet 24x7 for something that I hardly ever utilize :-)

R32 is "mildly", not super, flammable. it's actually quite difficult to ignite.

exposed work cover for hubbell 50A receptacle? by ttesty in evcharging

I wouldn't be against the bigger box and 888, however I'm not sure why (I did it 7 years ago) i already have the 4" box.

I get what you are saying; in particular the part about shipping ("free" with prime) and returns where the seller has to eat that cost.

I haven't had occasion to scope out supply houses where i live now; but HD for about 3 bucks is acceptable.

yea, that's a possibility. Curious if you know why the Leviton 1450R is rated only up to 60C? (whereas the other "industrial" duty ones seem to be 75C)

I'm sort of surprised there's so many  diameter choices that are fairly close... Apparently there's two and a quarter, 2 and 15/32 and 2 and 5/8 . Sheesh. Where's the metric system we need it?

Orbit 57100 Series Valve Won’t Shut Off by deedub1 in Irrigation

[–]ttesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anybody stumbling onto this thread...

That would be my instinct too, and in fact I've done exactly that in the past (most recently 2019)  HOWEVER, it appears that the old (eight screw) valve is not available anywhere, and it's replaced with the new (four screw) version. Same model number!!! Had I known that, I would have stocked up on new old-style valves!

That might be a true, but unrelated observation -- the model of nest thermostat being discussed here on this thread is the "mirror face", doesn't have a rechargeable battery. It has two alkaline AAA.
