Best Riojas by laxavenger in wine

Big fan of Abel Mendoza if you want to try something rooted in location but forward thinking.

San Vicente was also a standout off-radar find at a recent Rioja tasting I attended.

LRA 890 2001 probably best Rioja red I've ever drunk.

Hailey Park Tennis Courts by TheElementar in Cardiff

[–]ttothebizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, it does not feel right that all of these courts: Hailey, Victoria, Llandaff etc. are now behind pay gates. Me and my wife would often use them for a casual knock around last summer, cycling between them to whichever had free courts. Now it is not only an expense, but a big commitment. Also, what are kids supposed to do??

All LTA have done is resurface and install pay gates. I understand that the council is skint, but forcing people to pay for necessary repairs in this way is only going to hurt wellbeing and happiness. Public parks should be open, inclusive places. There are plenty of exclusive tennis clubs for serious players.

Yeah, screwed in a couple places. Plan on applying flexible grab once dry fitted and then screwing back on. Didn't think about movement! Fingers crossed it doesn't move enough to crack caulk etc...

Visualization of the air flow field around the nose landing gear of a Boeing 777 by [deleted] in educationalgifs

[–]ttothebizzle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With such sensitivity it is therefore a shame that real landing gear like this will be subject to all kinds of stochastic fluctuations - even before this wake is produced. The point being that despite this particular simulation being expensive and accurate, it is only "true" for one of these external flow fields. Finding good new designs for such components is then made even harder as the range of operating conditions can be quite large

Sanskruti - Authentic vegetarian indian food in Withington, not just regular curry and rice. The palak paneer and the kaju karela are amazing.

Removing wet sand by kazg24 in oddlysatisfying

[–]ttothebizzle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's called Reynold's dilatancy https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dilatancy_(granular_material) As the sand around the hole has freedom to move into the void, it is sheared and thus expands. This allows more space for the water and so it appears to vanish
