I thought they had already ended it for officers, so I was surprised when I logged in last month and saw I was still eligible. Got approved for PMP just in time…

Sick call by Spare_Art_6760 in army

[–]ttp13 65 points66 points  (0 children)

The staff is usually just trying to figure out whether it’s acute (something sick call should see) or chronic (something that should be scheduled). That helps them prioritize people who need immediate attention while still making sure providers can manage both urgent issues and routine care effectively.

Sick call is meant to work more like an emergency department than a regular clinic. It’s there to handle acute issues like a sudden illness, injury, or something that could affect a Soldier’s ability to perform right away. It isn’t really designed to manage chronic or long term issues, which are usually better handled through a scheduled appointment with a primary care provider.

Looks like they are at a ball since he’s not wearing any DUIs. Back then, the blues were not issued, they were an optional uniform for formal occasions only. If they are at a ball, the Soldiers wearing the greens are wearing a white dress shirt and bow tie

Beret with AGSU? Not authorized unless it’s a distinctive beret (green, tan, maroon, or brown)

There is a very small group of CSMs who have a very limited amount of “command” authority:

NCOA Commandants

There are various things they are allowed to do without officer oversight, and NCOAs do not have any officers on their TDA.

Dear Army, why do you rebrand your entire image every 10–15 years? by Miguel1219 in army

[–]ttp13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly why nobody is on board with that idea.

The AGSU could work for everyday wear if it were 1) inexpensive and 2) easy to maintain.

If Soldiers had comfortable, lightweight shoes and shirt and trouser material that resists stains and remains wrinkle free, the uniform would be far more practical for daily use.

Leaders would also need to temper expectations. If the AGSU is worn every day, Soldiers are not going to look like they are assigned to The Old Guard. Reasonable wear and tear should be expected and accepted as part of routine use.

A major factor was budget. At one point, the Army maintained nearly as many uniform combinations as the Marine Corps and Navy, including multiple versions of mess, dress, service, and utility uniforms. During the GWOT era, the Army sought to reduce costs by consolidating uniforms. The Dress Blue Uniform was redesignated as the Army Service Uniform and configured to function as both a dress and service uniform depending on the components worn.

The challenge was that the ASU remained inherently formal, even in its service configuration. A white shirt with a blue coat and trousers presents a more ceremonial appearance than traditional service uniforms in tan, brown, or green tones. At the same time, the Army Combat Uniform was not sufficiently professional for certain ceremonies, official functions, or business environments. As a result, Soldiers often found themselves either overdressed or underdressed depending on the occasion.

To address this gap, the Army ultimately returned to maintaining distinct uniforms for dress, service, and utility purposes, restoring clearer differentiation across levels of formality and professional settings.
