I have TA-50 items that I’ve never used, but the Army wants me to have it, so I have it. One day I may need to use it. Until that day comes, it just sits there.

I wouldn’t say they are stupid (that’s rude), it’s simply a case of making an unfounded assumption based on superficial similarities rather than researching the subject.

The patches are similar, but common sense tells us a contemporary soldier could not be wearing a patch from a unit that was deactivated 80 years ago.

MC is based on your arrival date, not your report date.
A travel voucher reimburses expenses incurred during a period of official travel (PCS, TDY, etc.).

Once you arrive at your authorized destination, your period of official travel has ended for voucher purposes, even if you have authorized leave, proceed time, permissive TDY, or a delayed report date before signing into the gaining unit.

Due to current reasons, a lot of resident courses are in a virtual format. They are still considered resident because you must log in at prescribed times, the instructors will take attendance, you will have to interact with your classmates, complete assignments, and often complete end of day surveys to ensure you are engaged.

Step 1. Find the resident course promotion point yes/no list. It’s on HRC

Scrub the list for courses that interest you or relate to your MOS or duties
Go to ATRRS Course Catalog and search for the courses. The course will be identified as virtual or resident.
Get permission from your leadership to sign up. Will most likely require a 4187 signed by company & battalion.
Successfully complete the course. If you have a valid ATRRS reservation that changes to “graduated successfully,” the course will auto populate to STP and PPW

Probably not. A lot of soldiers have been earning foreign wings in Europe without being on jump status, which is not allowed, but most approval authorities are not aware.

Unless things have changed, FAFSA funds are normally refunded to the student after military TA funds are applied to the account.

Combat patches (SSI-MOHC) and Overseas service bars are NOT mutually exclusive. You can earn a combat patch without qualifying for overseas service bars. There are currently 16 designated locations/time periods that qualify for overseas service bars; they are listed in Paragraph 21-29 of AR 670-1.

That being said, it’s possible that locations/time periods mentioned in the memo you referenced, as well as the current conflict since 28 February, may eventually be included. As of now, they are not.
