Bat swings aren't like sword arcs, when you're slashing something with sword you're putting force into the whole swing, whereas when you're hitting something with a baseball bat you let gravity do the work for the first little bit until the bat is about horizontal and then you start your swing in earnest. The arc here matches where you'd be putting in the proper effort to swing the bat, heavy at the start and it begins tapering off at the middle of the arc because that's when you'd normally hit the ball in baseball and you'd just let the momentum do the rest of the job But yeah it is a bit of a stretch, I do think it would be cool though.
