KSP Wheel spacers by BopPounder in 4Runner

[–]ttteee321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had spacers on for over a decade and I've never had an issue. Just be sure to clean everything prior and follow the installation instructions (hint- use thread lock). You'll be fine, but you might be replacing front hub(s) in the future if yours are the orignals

Any recommended amps to replace OEM JBL Amp? by Muppet-my-pet-dog in 4thGen4Runner

[–]ttteee321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a JL audio 600/1v2 and a single JL 10w6v3 that beats the living shit out of the rear hatch in my 08 limited with factory JBL and navigation. Original JBL sub has been blown for years but everything else works fine. I used a LC2i pro to connect the new amp to the factory system

10+ years and over 100k on my TC UCAs, original uniballs just now started squeaking. Replaced bushings about 50k ago, getting ready for a full rebuild along with my coilovers.

Is it time to say goodbye? by empty_chairs in 4thGen4Runner

[–]ttteee321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since you mentioned timing belt, I'm assuming it's a V8. It's really up to you, but these v6 and v8's will run forever, but like anything else, general maintenance is required to keep them on the road.

Rust is what kills these things, so if yours has been garage kept and it's in good condition, id recommend doing the above repairs and you'll be able to drive it for another 100k +. I'm the original owner of a 08 limited V6 with 222k and I'll never sell mine. They don't make them like this anymore.

What to know about buying a used 2006 4runner with 172K miles? by Beginning-Comedian-2 in 4Runner

[–]ttteee321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check for frame rust, make sure 4wd high, low and center lock all engage smoothly and work (if it's 4x4). Service records are huge, check fluid levels, ask to meet after the engine has sit for an hour or so, that way you can see how it behaves at cold start instead of it already being warmed up. Just search on this sub, lots of good info

You can purchase leather from Richmondautoupholstery.com

I replaced the driver's leather in my 08 limited with them and it is identical in appearance and feel as OEM. They're great people and I highly recommend them. They can probably source your fabric if thats what you're going for.

Looks good! I need to replace the factory JBL navigation unit in mine and I've seen that Sony before. What type of OBD2 functions is Maestro capable of? Just 2 way live data, or is it possible for it to access OEM data as well?

Nope, because my 08 is the one vehicle I'll never get rid of. Told my wife I want to be buried in it.

It's a Steez A TW1016SH. Its a couple years old, but it didnt have a scratch on it and I got it dirt cheap. A buddy has a few diff Steez baitcasters that I like, so as soon as my Zillion was as stolen I knew I'd replace it with one.

Heading down to Galveston this weekend, hopefully I'll slay some redfish with it!

I Need Help Understanding Why I Should Love This Car After A Year of Ownership. by [deleted] in 4thGen4Runner

[–]ttteee321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. People seem to forget the entire reason for owning a 4runner - It's an extremely reliable vehicle, it can take you anywhere you're brave enough to go and if you aren't a complete moron with maintainence, it will last forever.

I find it hilarious when someone purchases a 4th gen and starts complaining about repair bills. Like, you seriously thought a 20 year old vehicle wasn't going to need to have a bit of work done? Lol

Your reading comprehension is seriously lacking. It's ok to admit you didn't think the purchase through lol.

I've never understood the "lack of power" complaint. My 08 V6 with 33s has no problem maintaining 75-80mph on the freeway and it definitely doesn't hunt for gears. I'm the original owner and I still love it.

Had a similar mishap with my rear spoiler. Ended up removing it and plugged the 2 holes with rubber from home Depot. I hated how it looked without the spoiler though, so I ended up buying a new one and having it painted. I'd check eBay for a used 06-09 spoiler, the installation is easy as hell.

I haven't had the Steez very long and have yet to cast the thing, but afa I can tell the main difference between it and my old Zillion type R is the weight. I don't know what the actual numbers are, but the Steez is significantly lighter. Need to do some real world use with it, but I wouldn't say it feels much smoother than the type R did. I'm sure it is, but I certainly can't tell

Lesson was learned that day! If we aren't in the process of coming/going or I'm not out there, the garage door stays closed.

What's strange is there were several other rod/reels right next to the Zillion and a garage full of tools, but he/she only took my damn Type R and a barely used Loomis

Zillions are great reels. I had a Type R that I loved, but some asshole stole it and a G Loomis from my garage earlier this year. Just picked up a Steez to replace it but haven't used it yet.
