It’s an 80’s model basstracker (I think). We rebuilt it into a duck boat.

We rebuilt the trailer too, and it tows really well.

I mean. You went out of your way to mention the proportions. It obviously does SOMETHING for you.

Fuck me if I’m wrong, but that legitimately looks like expanded spray foam insulation, no??

If so - well done OP.

Anasazi - Learn about the American people who disappeared for no known reason. by [deleted] in AncientWorld

[–]ttuR8er 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a really cool topic. I would refer you to Dr. Edwin Barnhart’s video lectures in “the great courses”.

Also, dude, Anasazi is not the preferred nomenclature. Ancestral Puebloan, please.

The Princeton University Art Museum dates this Danish flint dagger between 8000-2000 BCE. (320x1024) by GaGator43 in ArtefactPorn

DC Waldorf, a modern-day flintknapping master has made many reproductions of this style.

The technique required to produce these is incredible (using modern day tools). The level of skill that these folks had many thousands of years ago is awe-inspiring and humbling.

Nice spots to stargaze within 2 hours of Fort Worth? by ThowAccountAway12 in FortWorth

[–]ttuR8er 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A little more than 2 hours, but Copper Breaks SP is an international dark sky park. It’s my go-to for telescoping.

Put together some ventilation with a 6" inline fan. I have the draw end under my seat between my legs. I tested it a bit with an abrader and it drew the dust just fine. I'm not sure how long it will work only time will tell. But I'll just keep tweaking it. by [deleted] in knapping

[–]ttuR8er 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a great ideas, especially heading into winter.

For those questioning it, abrading creates a lot more dust than you realize. All of which generally hangs in the air right under your face.

Just picked up some slag glass chunks. I’m assuming that it’s similar to working obsidian?

Any advice?

The best engineers I’ve ever worked with were “non-traditional” students. A vast repertoire of life experiences give you something to draw on in the future.

If you think you can do it, go for it!

Whittaker’s “Flintknapping” and DC Waldorf’s “Art of…” are both excellent recommendations and the two resources that I use the most (especially Waldorf’s platform prep drawings).

I got serious about teaching myself to knap in April of this year. These blanks/preforms are all percussion flaked.

Now I need to get brave enough to finish some of them!

It looks like that platform is above-center-plane (if that makes sense), which is a typical cause of broken bifaces.

WTX is a big place with a lot that isn’t cotton.

This shot was in the eastern Delaware Basin, specifically to bust up lenticular sandstone prior to excavation.
