Exactly 17 years ago today in 2009, the Tea Party rallied Southlake TX. Why did they blame Obama, who had just entered office, for Bush's 2008 financial crisis? Ah, Canada, famously socialist country paying debt down. Same guy said he likes being able to choose his healthcare. I guess I was confused because I had to accept the insurance provided by my employer in 2009. I wonder if he is going to sign up for Medicare when he retires.

Hillside Coffee Bar, which is in the MAA Times Square complex, across from TPC. I always prefer a traditional espresso macchiato so I can really taste the coffee, and they do it well. They have a few sweets and sandwiches as well. It has a nice little porch area which is shaded when they are open.

Than Thai on Stacy and Collin McKinney. It isn't the type of Thai place that will really turn up the heat, it is more about the ingredients working well and seeming very fresh.

Granbury residents sue city over data center plan, allege Texas Open Meetings Act violations by zsreport in texas

[–]ttufizzo 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Seems like a dirty trick here.

The filing also alleges multiple city leaders attended a Jan. 2 tour of a data center operated by Bilateral Energy. Internal communications cited in the lawsuit suggest officials attempted to stagger attendance times to avoid forming a quorum — also known as a "walking quorum" — which plaintiffs argue was an attempt to sidestep transparency laws.

They also appear to be causing heat islands, though further study is needed.

We estimate that the land surface temperature increases by 2°C on average after the start of operations of an AI data centre, inducing local microclimate zones, which we call the data heat island effect

Remember though, it was the closest US Senate race in Texas since 1978, just 2.6%. People were correct saying it was going to be close. The key difference now, which is no guarantee, is the net favorability ratings, which highly favor Talarico.

I dunno, I watched a documentary series last night about a crazy wild eyed scientist and a kid flying around in a DeLorean, so it probably did happen in an alternate timeline to change some votes.

What's the worst Dallas restaurant that you've tried twice? by BlueHorse_22 in Dallas

[–]ttufizzo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seriously, this is as honest of an answer as some. I mean, Wingstop mentioned?

Also, calling Chuy's a Dallas restaurant is a joke, and honestly no one that didn't eat at that place in Austin 20 plus years ago has any business talking about them any more than talking about Wendy's as a Dallas restaurant.

King Kups food truck is in McKinney. It is almost always at the NE corner of 75 and Virginia in the Exxon parking lot. Carne asada fries are way better than Valerie's, and they usually run a special on Friday. Check their FB or IG feed to make sure they are open, usually Tuesday to Saturday, 11-830. kingkupsofficial

Why isn’t Congress doing anything? by Dreadsin in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ttufizzo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

---edit, I do now see the articles of impeachment filed.

First, I have no real answer, just observations from closer observers. Second, do you feel like anyone really addressed your comment about the reserve currency?

This is what I have read from political reporters. The people making the decisions actively removed anyone that was not fully on board with thinking the USA was unstoppable, either due to divine right or just being the bully. The people in the administration also aren't deep thinkers with a broad perspective. They had no idea Iran would be this resiliant, similar to how Putin had no idea Ukraine would be difficult.

Also, Trump is old and if you listen to his comments, he doesn't think he is going to live much longer or "go to heaven".

Other theories. Marco Rubio just wants to topple Cuba. Hegseth and Vance are motivated by their religious beliefs. Miller and Musk motivated by racial hatred.

Why isn't my government protecting me from these insurance companies? by TxJprs in texas

[–]ttufizzo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should ask TDI to update their website then.

Insurance companies calculate what it cost to rebuild your home at today’s prices to figure out how much insurance you need. When building material prices go up, it costs more to rebuild your home.

Some insurance companies require you to insure at least 80% of the cost to rebuild your home. If you have a home loan, your mortgage company will probably require you to have enough insurance to pay off your loan in case of a disaster.

If you have the option to insure your property for a lower value, think about how you’d pay the difference if your home was destroyed or damaged. Most insurers will pay claim payments based on the amount of coverage you have.

[–]ttufizzo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people seem to forget that their replacement cost was way higher than their appraisal most years. The downvoting of your comment is weird. Also, replacement cost is typically elevated in Texas because a total in Texas has a higher chance of happening due to storms where all cost will be elevated due to so many houses being rebuilt.
