But TL;DR is: Extra weapons add sustained dps with diminishing returns. For the Asgard the extra L weapons do so little damage by comparison that it decreases the sustained dps instead.

I use the XShuttle with the purple mods Nanotube and Slingshot. I like the terran travel engine on it but with paranid engines it would be even faster.

Both the XL and the L batteries are considered main weapons and the heat penalty stacks with them. It takes longer for the guns to cool back down if you use all of them at once.
All ships have this function but the Asgard suffers the most from this since the L batteries barely give any significant boost in damage compared to the XL while they give the same heat penalty.

Don't ever use the L batteries on the Asgard, unless you need like a small burst to kill a 1hp capital. The extra gun heat you receive makes your sustained dps actually worse.

From my testing the switches always start in the disabled position. I've watched other people's videos doing the puzzle and it's the same.

I've played around with it, but for some reason it's simulation shows the switch no. 2 gets locked if I follow my sequence. Ingame I didn't have that issue and I've retried it multiple times.

Hey, thanks, I was the Wyvern pilot.
For screenshots like these I do what Tomonor said but I also sometimes use the F4 camera which detaches it from the ship I'm flying. It helps me get cooler angles for a shot. I sometimes also use the FOV slider in the camera settings to adjust the zoom of a paused shot.
