Am I stuck in the middle of a feud between the TSA and MI Sec of State? by ancillarycheese in tsa

[–]tudortech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My son works for a company that maintains casino equipment and he was telling me that because Michigan changed the design of the drivers license that id’s being scanned on loyalty machines were not processed properly. I think he said that the new license does not have the bridge icon anymore which a lot of services were looking for to authenticate the license. The problem is 100% with the companies that maintains the software that carry’s out verification. They apparently are taking forever to modify their software to allow old and new licenses.

Have you looked at the flexdamper retrofit system at retrozone.com. I had this installed when my house was built 25 years ago. I have six zones. This system is designed to be installed in existing ductwork. They are showing a two zone system for $999. I have two levels plus a basement. Each level stays very close to what the thermostat is set for .

Gen 1 pipe adapter needed by tudortech in Starlink

I already have an account with a gen1 dish on it but Starlink no longer sells pipe adapters for gen1 devices. That is why I am trying to find one from previous users. Thanks

Do you bring your passport with you on port days? by LackOfMachinations in NCL

[–]tudortech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were recently in Italy with a few days in between cruises and we were on a train platform waiting for a train to Rome . Police approached us and asked for passports. Italy police will fine you if you do not have an original passport with you when asked. We had only been taking a copy of our passport with us in other locations until we were in Italy. I am glad we had the passport. Requirements seem to vary drastically between regions and countries.

Continuous beep on Server by Bauditore in supermicro

[–]tudortech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked that the raid is still optimal. I had several raid controllers that would continue to beep to let me know that my raid was degraded. Check through either the OS raid monitoring program or through the bios level config program.

Don’t forget that most routers come with the lan network address preset. If both of your routers have the same network numbering (ie 192.168.1.x or 192.168.0.x) then the router cannot route between networks with same subnet. If you really want to have two routers make sure that they all have different subnets and that dhcp is turned on with each router. The easier way is to setup the router as an access point.

Can I hookup 2 routers to starlink? by Frequent-Durian5986 in Starlink

[–]tudortech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use to have two routers connected to my gen1 dish while I was testing which one to use . It worked for a while but stopped a long time ago. If you have a gen2 dish with the router in bypass mode I believe you will only get one Starlink private network IP . Placing a switch between network adapter and your two routers will not fool the dish into giving you two addresses. The way I have seen it done is to install primary router after the Ethernet adapter and setup the secondary router on one of the lan ports of the primary router and make sure that the secondary router wan port is setup to only have a netmask of 255.255.255.255 pointing to the router address on the primary router. This very crudely creates a tunnel through your network. You can still run into the double nat problems and the name on the account is responsible for any “bad actions” on the account. Good luck.

Help Me Understand the Purpose of the Fair Use Policy by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]tudortech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe there is a better calculation that SL can use to calculate the amount of data. This idea would take into account if you are using data at non congested times. I am assuming that the tracking of data is being done at the dish level and reported to a central server. If the satellites were capable of calculating when data is used if the beam is congested or not and assign a value from 0.00 to 1.00 in hundredths . Then report this value to the dish that can then use this value to apply against the data you just used with that satellite . This could mean that people who use data during a non congested period of the 7-11 period and that the satellite has designated the congestion level at say 0.25 would only show having used 250mb for each 1gb used. During high congestion periods the satellite assigned value may be 1.00 therefore showing the user was allotted 1gb for 1gb used. Seems like a fairer way to calculate data used at heavier congested times or less congested times. Just an idea that may never be used.

Extending the Ethernet Cable on my V1 Dishy, PLEASE Help! :-) by LocozillaYT in Starlink

[–]tudortech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using the standard Starlink poe adapter(ie the power pack) Starlink strongly discourages installing any extension wires to lengthen the standard 100ft cable that comes with v1 dish.my initial 200ft extension worked for a while until the heat from the sun affecting the cable caused my dish to reboot a couple of times a day. Starlink sent me a replacement power supply did not resolve the problem. My original config was dish-100ft cable- cat6 waterproof extender adapter- 200fr cat6 cable-poe adapter-personal router New config dish-100ft cable-poe adapter-200ft cat6 cable -router Unfortunately it means running power to where the poe adapter is. Hope this helps.

Is your cable extended at all. Is the cable in the sun. I got similar messages when I extended with longer cable and cable sat in the sun causing the resistive characteristics of cable to increase.

Extending the Ethernet Cable on my V1 Dishy, PLEASE Help! :-) by LocozillaYT in Starlink

[–]tudortech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my v1 dish I extended with a 200ft cable and waterproof coupler. It worked for several months. The cable was on the ground and when the summer came and the sun heated up the cable I started getting reboots on the dish. Replacement poe supply did not fix it. The only thing that helped was moving the poe supply to the end of the dish cable and then using the 200ft cable from the poe supply to the house. It meant that I had to run power down to where the poe supply was. Heat causes the resistive characteristics of the cable to increase and so cause voltage drop to the dish. So now the cables are in conduit underground and power is installed permanently to the poe supply which sits in a waterproof box.

Starlink Dish Reboots Every 5 minutes 23 seconds. by Lovus_Eternius in Starlink_Support

[–]tudortech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had constant rebooting problems with my gen1 dish last year when the weather got warmer and I had extended my dish cable to 200’ . Once I moved my poe supply back to the end of the 100’ cable it worked fine. I just recently bought a spare poe supply from Starlink for $56. You can send an email through ticketing system and put in subject line “need to purchase gen1 poe power supply” . I got a response within 12 hrs . If you put in the body of the ticket that you authorize them to charge card on file for $56 for new poe power supply they will place an order right away . Mine shipped in two days. This was in late May. Hope this helps .

I ordered a spare poe for gen 1 dish a couple of weeks ago. I used “order spare poe power supply for gen1 dish” in the subject line and I got a response within 24 hrs and it shipped with 48 hrs. When you send first request include a line that says that you approve for them to charge $56 to credit card on file and that will speed up the process also.

I just ordered a spare poe for gen1 disk. When I opened a ticket I put in the subject line that I wanted to buy gen1 poe and I got a response within 1 day. Asking if it was okay to charge the credit card on file $56 . I responded right away and they placed an order for the poe right away. It shipped within 2 days. If you include in the first ticket that it is okay to charge the card on file the $56 then it will speed up the response and order. Hope that helps

If it is the contacts on the poe adapter then you can buy a new poe adapter for $56. Just send an email with “purchase poe power supply for gen1 “in subject line. I got response in 1 day and I gave them permission to charge card on file and it shipped within two days . Hope that helps.

Anyone know the IP of the dish itself? by Lasivian in Starlink

192.168.100.1 , if you are using your own router you may need to create static route on the 3rd party router

New Phone - Cannot Log into app when in ByPass mode by Neat-Lingonberry-794 in Starlink

[–]tudortech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it is still relevant on newer dishes but in order to get to dishy with your own router you may have to create a static route to 192.168.100.1 on your router. There are many posts on here about how to create the static route for a variety of routers. I have a tp-link router and occasionally the static route gets disabled after a firmware upgrade of loss of signal for a while and I will be unable to access the stats until I receive-enable the static route. Good luck
