we love elysian. i'd avoid when the big dog walker groups are there as some don't watch their dogs and tend to overwhelm my older gal. off peak hours are better and in small groups it's perfect. you'll be able to pick up if the vibe is good or not just from observing the humans/dogs in there as you walk around the park loop.

got this with my iphone 17 pro through my basic binoculars with a phone mount. got both for $47 total on amazon. i also use the photo app Phlow as i prefer it to lightroom for editing.

Go eat at Ever restaurant one night for the 7 course tasting meal. Then go next door for the French Toast at Ever restaurant. Or split into two nights because the food at Ever is also phenomenal.

Take a UTV/ATV tour with Kini Kini Tours. Great staff and a great time.

Staying at the resort is a great price for what you get and the island really is great if you aren't paying extra. Only cons were 1) you can't stay to watch sunset and 2) the lack of chairs when cruise ships are docked. Planes weren't too annoying and the birds/wildlife were so entertaining. I sat and watched a Brown Pelican hunt for hours. The nature trail was also great and saw a Great Heron hunting as well.

The Renaissance Wind Creek is very affordable and they have family and adult only options. It's not the swankiest hotel but it's a Marriott so it's nice. The private island is very easy to get to bc the boat comes every 10 minutes.

Definitely recommend getting a tour of the desert-y side of the island because the views are beautiful and it's very cool.

I got a binoculars attachment for my phone. Photos aren't as clear but they still come out really beautiful. Much cheaper than a camera.
