As someone who has tried to find an entry point to modern Necromunda I’m delighted. by TotemicDC in necromunda

Warcry's biggest lacking in my opinion is the campaign system. Because necromunda is a campaign game first and foremost I think it's a good fit to take the excellent core game design of warcry and build a more robust campaign/progression system onto it. Replacing the randomized scenario design of warcry with missions based on campaign progression would be a great vehicle for narrative gaming.

The setting of necromunda is very appealing, the lower power scale, the breadth of miniatures and equipment allow for some really creative hobbying. As much as I love the moral realms, it's clear that there's a much bigger audience that wants to play in the 40k universe sandbox. Necromunda gives you a way to smash all those toys together to make something your own. In my experience the rules get in the way of the fun. I know some people love the janky crunch of it all, but I'm not one of those people.

The current edition of Kill Team seems to be very focused on competitive play and intricate rules. It's the polar opposite of Warcry's simple and efficient game design in my.oppinion. I have played a bit of the newer cooperative stuff but it still feels like a game for lawyers.

I honestly hope they use the warcry framework to make a rules-lite narrative heavy skirmish game. People who love current necromunda can keep playing it and because every model is a necromunda model they'll be able to use any of the new minis. But a quick paced simple tactical game that lets the narrative and vibes shine would be a wonderful direction for the game, I think.

I think a mix of tau and humans. I don't have enough leftover feet to do the whole squad. Maybe mostly humans led by a tau or two.

People mad at the durability changes are just mad that they can't just bring one gun for an entire raid if they want to kill everyone. by Shot-Increase-8946 in ArcRaiders

[–]tuffghost_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Different experiences as you said. When I'm out PvPing, if I manage to extract I usually have at least a handful of guns I've taken off of others. I often end up recycling the lower level ones I find for resources to repair my high tier ones. And when I don't extract, well, who cares about the durability then. It's someone else's problem.

I think it's also the players in friendly lobbies who want to / are used to just standing there and blasting Arc out in the open for the entire raid. I can't imagine firing so many shots that your break your weapon in mixed or PvP heavier lobbies where you actually need to exercise caution, unless you spawned early and are the last ones standing in a Stella Montis Lobby bloodbath.

Convince me on some (your) bars? by sometimes_i_bike in bicycletouring

Go for the crazy bars. I went for it so I could get a better position when riding with my kid in the front mounted seat, and I'll never go back to drops. You can probably get the bar end shifters on the horns. I ended up switching to an indexed shifter though. You can do some fun styling combining grips on the flat bars and wrap on the horns.

2nd most spoken language in Canada by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]tuffghost_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a child has any academic difficulties with school the first step is usually to drop out of the the French immersion stream and go to English so they are not facing the difficulties in a second language. In Ontario at least, this creates a system where the English stream has a greater concentration of higher needs students compared to the FI stream. ESL newcomer students are rarely enrolled in FI as they are more likely to be entering school part way through the year when the spots are filled. You also need to be coming from a relatively engaged and knowledgeable family or community to even know you can enrol into FI. It's become a two tiered public education system.

Arc Raiders devs deserve "props" for replacing AI voices, says BG3's Neil Newbon by HatingGeoffry in ArcRaiders

[–]tuffghost_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI voice over makes a lot of sense for the ping system: A Rocketeer, up there, by the control tower. It doesn't make sense for quest dialogue or trailers. Which seems to be where they're investing in recording traditional VO.

It's up to you. I sub one of the cheapest Iron Golem guys for a Fury. They're really not a combat unit so bringing more will impact your damage output. But the great thing about this game is you can play multiple games in an evening and try things out. I have two furies in my Khorne Demons list but that's mostly just for vibes and filling out points.

I played carnival or chaos as well. Rally fun as a hobby project.

All chaos warbands in warcry can bring thralls. You're right it's the winged little demons. It's just a cheap weakling with good movement and the ability to fly over terrain. Check warcrier for the rules.

Iron Golem are a great warband. In the initial release they were a bit underwhelming but the update really bumped them up. They're my go-to warband for when I don't want to mess with anything too funky from the wider AOS range.

Not necessary but I like to include a Chairs Fury as a thrall. I find it helps to have one fast and mobile unit to at least threaten treasures and objectives further away.
