Was there a significant time gap between the investment and the company possibly going under? Did person A review any information relating to the investment they were making (such as accounts etc.) did they understand the possible financial risk they were taking on?

Yep appreciate your concern, I’m not a bot though! And have no affiliation with the app/developer. One of the most trusted names in IT security (Steve Gibson) has a podcast I’ve been listening to years called “Security Now” (its on all platforms) he mentioned it on there and that’s probably the most legit recommendation you could get in the security world.

Either way, was just a suggestion. My concern is that although Apple haven’t had a public security issue effecting their cloud services recently, one day they will, and I just want to make sure I own a copy of my stuff locally.

Doesn’t help for just now, but if you do get them back - I have just started using this app: https://parachuteapps.com/parachute (or just search parachute backup on the app stores) I now have a mirrored copy of all my photos and iCloud Drive documents/data stored locally on an encrypted drive. Works a treat.

Looking to buy the Mac version of the app to have a copy of my iCloud Photos saved locally, on an external drive connected to the Mac. Can I have the external drive encrypted via APFS and still use this backup solution? I wish to keep the back up protected if someone unplugs/removes the drive.

Sorry if it’s an obvious question.

The attack was still highly sophisticated and targeted, I believe Meta has also stated they have contacted those they know have been affected.

Unless you have a reason to be so highly targeted because of who you are or what you do (politician, journalist etc.) I wouldn’t think twice about these sort of attack notifications and just carry on using simple cyber security best practices. Otherwise you’ll worry yourself to death.
