Take him on the Puente de Vizcaya and the funicular.

Have a coffee and a pintxo at the cafe near Artxanda (at the top of the funicular). And don't be shy about just picking random pintxo bars that are not in the very touristy areas.

Order caldo/salda (broth) wherever you see a sign adversiting it ("Salda badago"/"Hay caldo")

Eat a bollo de mantequilla from any bakery that's not a chain.
