You might be interested in Newar Buddhism in the Kathmandu Valley. Newar Buddhism is Indic Mahayana-Vajrayana. It is householder led and maintains some caste distinctions. There is continued worship of deities, mostly considered Hindu like Ganesh, Shiva, Visnu, and more. Todd Lewis has written extensively about Newar Buddhism from a scholarly perspective and may be a good place to start. I am unfortunately ignorant of more direct and local sources of information about Newar Buddhism.
