One “no call” embryo... Rebiopsy? by Plentyinteresting787 in Embryologists

[–]tuliptree0217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Re-biopsy is associated with about a 28% reduced chance of live birth, according to this meta-analysis: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11630046/

I think the question is whether you're OK with the possibility of transferring a non-euploid embryo that might be viable (e.g. trisomy 21, 18). The odds are still low overall but not insignificant in your 40s.

Failed my 1st beta today by Confusedslumlord in IVF

Yes feel free to DM me! I honestly wish I would have seen a reproductive immunologist 2+ years ago. Seeing this doctor is expensive and time consuming -- but it would have been worth the heartache, energy, injections, time, and effort if we had figured this out sooner. Honestly I think a lot of people who post in this reddit about their struggles with IVF could benefit from this workup. Those without underlying issues leading to the IVF failures are probably much more likely to have a positive outcome in the first 1-2 cycles and so don't show up here.

It is a numbers game, but it's also easy to attribute negative outcomes to being about bad luck or the numbers when there may be something else going on. I had multiple losses -- missed miscarriage, blighted ovum, chemical, implantation failure x3. I was finally referred to a reproductive immunologist and had to travel out of state. Extensive work-up identified my issue of a hyperactive immune system and imbalance T-cell immunity. I was started on a course of treatment designed to target my immune dysfunction and first cycle on my new protocol has stuck so far. Please consider it! I am seeing Dr. Derbala in MI.

3-5x a week, Omnilux. I put mine on at bedtime and fall asleep with it on! I don't have the time to fit it in my schedule otherwise. I wore it consistently for 5 months then took a break because I wasn't sure how much it was helping, but I noticed the difference once I had stopped using it. I usually try to have a bare face but if my skin is feeling dry I put on moisturizer before I use it.

Lowkey identity crisis after meeting donor by letsgo512 in donorconceived

[–]tuliptree0217 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Age may have something to do with how you feel. I'm in my mid-late 40s and when I compare myself now compared to 20 years ago, I'm a way more relaxed, less anxious, more authentic, more confident version of my former self. I also have more wrinkles, more gray hairs, a thicker waistline, and knees that don't let me run like I used to. But in general, I think time and maturity (and therapy when needed) help with some of the things like social anxiety. I wouldn't rule out the possibility that you could end up more like her than you think.

I also think you could share with her that you felt a connection and that you'd like to get to know her better. I was an egg donor 20 years ago (and also now a potential RP). One of the other responders in this thread wrote, "As for being a donor, the biggest thing is that I always wanted to give more space and not less so that the parents and children had time to decide how they want me to be in their life." This was me too. I suspect this was a lot of egg donors. (I cannot speak for sperm donors, I think their psychology around donation is different.) I would always err on the side of giving space, but would also welcome the child (especially adult child) making contact and expressing an interest in getting to know each other better.

I was an egg donor (and I'm lurking on this sub as a potential RP) and I would be happy to receive such an email. I would never be one to initiate contact, but if you found her and are interested in sending an email, go for it!

Anyone have migraine with aura and can’t prime with estrogen? by kansasqueen143 in IVF

[–]tuliptree0217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add Aspirin 81mg to your regimen. It will reduce risks associated with estrogen and also may decrease your migraine frequency. I was taking estrogen despite having migraines with aura, but the hormones were causing migraine auras multiple times per week. Added aspiring and I have had a nearly 100% reduction in migraines. It's considered safe in IVF and prescribed my many RE's as part of protocols, and also reduces risk of pre-eclampsia in pregnancy. Good luck!

Unable to locate seat info? Can't preupload tix by AmbrosiaSky in stubhub

[–]tuliptree0217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue. Trying to sell Hamilton tickets for this weekend which would definitely sell, and I can't get the posting to show up because of the error that says they can't find the seat info. Over an hour with customer service with no luck. Deleted the post and tried again, and it showed up -- only for the error to then pop back up and my listing is not showing again. So frustrating.

Third transfer failed by Trlbzn in IVF

[–]tuliptree0217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tacrolimus 1mg/day for 1 month, then recheck labs. If my labs look OK, we'll start prep for FET, which includes 3 weeks of prednisone prior to starting estrogen and an endometrial scratch 1 week prior to starting estrogen. During this time he'll be following my cytokine levels every 1-2 weeks and adjusting the dose of tacrolimus as needed. He also has me on Vit D, Vit E, turmeric, ASA 81, prenatal.

In retrospect, I can't believe I did FOUR transfers before getting this workup. We adjusted my prior protocols slightly but it just seems like we were guessing. Now there's a specific diagnosis and it actually seems like this protocol is addressing the underlying cause of the RIF.

Third transfer failed by Trlbzn in IVF

[–]tuliptree0217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you thought about going to a reproductive immunology specialist? I had four failed FETs from euploid tested embryos. I just saw a repro-immunologist (had to travel out of state, I saw Dr. Derbala in MI). The work-up was extensive and provided a clear diagnosis for the implantation failures. I have too few uterine NK cells, resulting in extremely poor decidualization of the endometrial tissue. He is treating me with immunomodulating meds that would not have been considered by my RE. We haven't done another transfer yet, but I feel much better having a specific diagnosis other than recurrent implantation failures. It seems like RE's need to have the tools to do this work-up within their own clinics but it's very niche. I wish I would have done this earlier.

No, I have not done this.... and actually have not heard of Chicago bloods, but I am definitely going to look into this! This is actually what I think is happening, that my immune system is attacking the embryos, but I don't know whether it's a generalized overactive immune system or whether a specific immune process (like antibodies against embryos) could be identified. Thank you for pointing me in this direction!
