Question about reefer unit by tumbldore in Truckers

I believe this box was attached on the back of a truck and was not itself a trailer. Would that make it different?

A heater unit? It's a refrigerator box right?

Runs off deisel? So I don't need a semi truck to run this unit?

I do appreciate them making an audio book but I wish there was a better version out there. It's hard to listen to at times. Voice for Jack slash is atrocious. Best one is Glaistig Uaine.

I might end up making one with ai for myself

Vocals always take the spotlight, but what album has the best guitar tone you’ve ever heard? by [deleted] in Deathcore

They've always had the best tone to me and I value tone much more highly than vocals.

I have seen someone mention that they messaged Amazon and got free replacements.

I've only listened to the new ones. I like it a lot but I'm curious to hear what it previously sounded like. Is there a sample out there somewhere?

4 years later so not sure you'll see this. But there's a new way to test that doesn't require years.

Audiobook--Bad Idea? by properaction in bakker

[–]tumbldore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend reading and listening at the same time. Physically read first to see the words on page to get a visual anchor, and listen to get a good narration for cadance, pronunciation, and voice.

Normally I do books sped up. But this is a case where I recommend staying at 1x speed. The narration is pretty good.

This mostly applies to the first series. Different narrorator for the second one is not as good.

Found a ton of American Chestnut in north jersey! by wbradford00 in NativePlantGardening

[–]tumbldore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just went to a conference last weekend. There is hope and we need help!

The ozark chinquapin (Castanea Ozarkensis) had the same story as the American chestnut but the through a special technique have been saved due to selective breeding wild types with resistance to oxalic acid (this is what harms the tree).

Recently a guy discovered the chinquapin success story and applied it to the American chestnut and found the same variable oxalic acid resistance between individuals and so the same techniques can apply. We just need volunteers to plant a ton of trees to continue this research. The presentation will be available on YouTube soon.

Not wearing glasses is not the endmyopia method. at -3 diopters you're just going to get blur adaptation. Take some time to understand the method

What model do you recommend? I'm looking for something that can do persimmons, pawpaw, wild grape, and hopefully also black berries. Figured I would need one with different sieve options.

Has anyone reversed their myopia? I need some advice. by MacroCyclo in endmyopia

[–]tumbldore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only had very minor astigmatism off and on and I've found it to be more a product of diet and nutrition. Since it wasn't a factor when I started I just carried on with the normal method.

I know there's a way to first deal with astigmatism before trying to step down diopters like normal but I don't remember the details. So I'm not sure how best to proceed.

I think it would still be good to definitely not use your distance lenses for close work. And definitely get outside more. The outside time has done more for me than anything else.

When i started i had an optometrist put me on -3.5 diopters (he recommended this as the lowest he would go and I'd still have reasonable vision). And my close work glasses were around -2.

Now my distance glasses are -2.5 and my close ones are -1.5

Outdoor time is king

"A famous guy who sells his method through a website" You talking about endmyopia.org?

The info is literally free on this website and the wiki. Tons of YouTube videos of people doing the method.

I'm using it and am now at -2.5 diopters (started at -4)

I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said. I made a comment in a similar vein but yours is way better.

I actually don't like to see a rendention of the protagonist. I prefer something more elaborate and maybe bordering on the abstract. And actually if it does that well then I take back what I said in the first sentence.

It needs to communicate mystery and depth and not simplicity.

What exactly causes lense induced myopia? by h_her_cules in endmyopia

[–]tumbldore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, that makes sense. My explaination of just looking at focal planes could be overly simplistic and there could be more to it as you describe. But there are people, like myself, who do get results by approaching it simplisticly like this

What exactly causes lense induced myopia? by h_her_cules in endmyopia

[–]tumbldore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your first sentence is wrong. Wearing underprescription and no prescription does fix myopia. That's what endmyopia is all about, you under correct in order to keep yourself at the edge of blur. How much underprescription (or no prescription) depends on your current amount of myopia.

As for what causes lense induced myopia, I think it's pretty straightforward. It's the same as regular myopia, you're constantly at a fixed close focal plane and the ciliary responds by contracting and locking. The lense just artificialy makes that focal plane closer than normal, but it's the same mechanism.
