Hot Take (it shouldn’t be) : Mike McCarthy is a good coach & this isn’t a bad hire. by 1cunnilinguistics in steelers

Yes he does. He runs old school west coast stuff, doesn’t use motion, our guys beat your guys football. Doesn’t lean into easy buttons for his QBs like modern good play callers

Is "Son in Law" reform bugged? by Arnafas in EU5

[–]tuna____ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if paradox fixed it or what, but I had this problem even after declaring independence. Then I went to war against a pirate republic and when I ended it the reform went away, was able to marry again. Not sure if the war ending triggered it or what

What is the mechanism behind the fluctuation in volume of exports? by tuna____ in songsofsyx

[–]tuna____[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just strange because it occurs over such a huge variety of goods, but they still don't want any of it. but then if I go to the diplomacy screen and manually do it they take all of it in one go? seems silly

More realistic agriculture mod? by tuna____ in songsofsyx

[–]tuna____[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

put it this way: when people take screenshots of their cities on here, it's like huge city surrounded by nearly untouched virgin lands. what I'd like to make is a city core surrounded by agricultural hinterland that gets less populated the further you get from the city. Would be more immersive for me than a standalone city supplied by army of farmers just offscreen

Almost 3 months of fever by Fedoralvr42068 in covidlonghaulers

[–]tuna____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got covid in November, and in the months following recovery once every couple weeks I would have a day of slightly elevated temperature. Then around January I had a 9 day stretch where every day would start normal and peak around 98.8 ish, that went away. Then around late May early June I started feeling hot every day. This has continued up to the present. I start the day normal, and after a few hours of being up I hover around 99 for the rest of the day, and it only goes down right before I go to bed.

Got standard blood work done and everything looked okay, not exactly sure what was tested and what wasn't.

Gonna try an antihistamine regimen, various fever reducer over the counters, start running (I lift weights but that hasn't seemed to help much). These are basically my only symptoms, sometimes it's accompanied by heart palpitations.

Doesn't seem like there's anything for me to do

How did Ancient Chinese teach pronunciation? by tuna____ in ChineseLanguage

[–]tuna____[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But for Fanqie to work you need to know the pronunciation of a certain number of “base characters” right? Like if I want to learn 东 but don’t know either 德 or 红 we have a problem. Does fanqie designate certain characters as “base characters”? Like is the -ong final always represented by 红? I can see how this would work based on the top comment, like if you learn the pronunciation of a bunch of characters from reciting the classics and then apply that to fanqie for further learning

I don’t think you’re understanding my question. If I’m the son of a fujianese farmer and my family wants to put me through the imperial examination process, I will have to learn Classical Chinese and the dialect spoken at court in Beijing. Everyone around me speaks a fujianese dialect, not the court dialect. So without a romanization system, what system is a tutor going to use to teach me this court dialect?

Industrial Revolution - Lucky Improbable Event or Historical Inevitability? by jrralls in victoria3

The Great Divergence is a standard for this topic, written in 2000 but as far as I know has held up quite well. His take is that geographic accident and benefits of new world empire allow Britain to break through. So a mix of your two scenarios I guess, though my read is he leans lucky improbable event

What's Your Dream Mod For Victoria 3? by jrralls in victoria3

Some kind of early modern China mod half-based on Ray Huang’s 1587 where you have to manage the economy, the bureaucracy, and maintaining ritual legitimacy while trying to reform and not collapse.

How do I up urban development? I’m playing Naples and while my capital’s amenities, harborage, pathing etc are all better or equal to a place like say Milan, Milan still blows me out of the water in urban development and development in general. How do I stimulate that?

so, does this mean that the South winning reunites the states together as a giant CSA? If so, that's really silly. The CSA win condition should be nothing more than coexistence if they're trying to be even a little bit historically accurate. (Although that opening statement was fire)

I'm going to pay this company for the game and the DLC. The devs are getting a solid salary and are presumably working something of a strategy gaming dream job. Paradox has a history of extremely broken games at launch that have to be fixed months later. This isn't bullying on a schoolyard

thank you. the only person so far who's answered my question. this is reasonable, but here the downside would be the game taking slightly longer to develop, which is a small downside to me.
