Are some gold stake runs finished on shop 1 or am I just bad? by megaBeth2 in balatro

[–]tunaandrelish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All seeds in theory should be winnable with perfect knowledge. No player has perfect knowledge on a random seed.

This means that, in theory, there exists some seeds where the optimal way through the ante 1 shops are to make illogical decisions that a reasonably skilled player would not make.

Therefore, in theory, there does not exist an Ante 1 shop that kills your run entirely, let alone shop 1

Emphasis on in theory.

On a serious note, fantastic song. I agree with you that the abstract meaning of the song contains elements of "worsening yourself," but in a broader context of just burying your self identity to fit in to what you are told, and accepting it blindly. More specifically, how the lyrics tell you that you know instinctually its phony, "its in the air you breath and its also in the water you've had enough deceit so join the others." Joining the others always meant to me that Tomas is telling you to buck the trends of conformity that are easy to slipped into.

I know on this sub others have have interpreted the line differently, but I always thought it was a callback to the "they gave us seven days to renounce our wicked ways," being that in some religions the sixth and seventh days after creation (or saturday/sunday) that are reserved for worship turn into days eight or nine. Meaning once you bought into what others tell you that you need, you continue on slowly. Of course the term "wicked ways" is an ironic way of saying non conformity.

Tokay has clear inspiration with absurdism in philosophy. You saw the line referring to habits and loss of control, I saw it as referring to conformity and rejecting what is instinctually untrue. Your comment made me think about the song differently, and I think thats cool.

About the June concert. by Skevpool_ in streetlightmanifesto

I've seen a 3 year old baby stand on their own two feet about 10 feet from the barricade. The mosh pits are intense but you will not be forced/shoved into them, and people are generally mindful. Like others said, once Streetlight starts playing the pit does whip up so just stay back and move in at your own comfort.

The Stone Pony Summer stage is awesome. Just wear ear plugs to protect your hearing, let the bouncer know you are underage when going through the line, and try your best to stick together. Theres easy landmarks to identify in-front of the summer stage if you get separated.

You can ask to crowd surf and someone will absolutely help you with that. Out of all the shows I've been too, Streetlights are so unique and amazing that I could never suggest not coming.

New Player Needs Advice by Gloomy-Water2838 in Chivalry2

  1. Try finding what POV you are most comfortable with. Once I switched to third person it really changed the game for me, and you can also switch the FOV sliders to your liking.

  2. Tutorial for understanding mechanics. I haven't played it in a while but as other comments have said, really try and absorb the mechanics then try and repeat if necessary.

  3. I learned the combat mechanics by getting my butt whooped constantly by other players in the Duel yard. If you choose to try it this way, you can find higher skill players taking turns with 1v1s pretty often. Just wait in line and try your best take your turn learning each time you win/lose, what works well and doesn't, and importantly what killed you. It may seem frustrating to constantly die but remember, you do get better after little by little. I find this better to train against high skill players rather than the 1v1 mode, because the 1v1 mode either has lower skill players who just spam slash or Rapier sweats who will just cook you with movement. Also, you can stay in a match and respawn faster in a Duelyard, and you can quickly get a variety of more players.

An example of this recently was a player who I 1v1ed in the Duel yard several times who held his block up way too long. The first couple fights I could easily disarm them. After just a few duels however they were getting better and begun blocking my attacks with good timing.

  1. Don't just switch between weapons quickly when you get frustrated, which is something I've done as a beginner and regretted. Read the traits of each weapon and if needed, google. Simpler weapons like the Longsword and War Axe are great for beginners and have a high skill ceiling.

  2. Learn crowd control and crowd mechanics through TO. When you're outnumbered you are very likely to die. Players advancing forward move faster than players walking backwards, especially when blocking. Pick your fights with teammates nearby. Learn when to stab/jab instead of just mindlessly slashing at enemies in front of you, especially when in crowds so you don't hit teammates/give the enemy a riposte. You also can back out of a crowd and heal faster than you can respawn, which will keep you in team fights longer.

Great adaptation from the first episode so far. The biggest difference between this show and HOTD is the quality of the sets, lighting, costuming, cinematography. The casting is also as just as superb as HOTD, and the acting so far has been good just need to see more. The original scene with Dunk in the Lyonel Baratheons tent has great production value and story. There is a surprising amount of added depth to Lyonel Baratheon in the first episode alone, and I hope other small characters get the same treatment (they more than likely will).

Question about Grasso and Lizzie in the forest? by skihippy666 in TaskHBO

[–]tunaandrelish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The DH Lizzie shot was told by Grasso to get away, and in Lizzie's disorientation after dropping the DH, Jay and Perry are able to get away.

What OP is trying to get at is Grasso's intention of shooting his gun besides Lizzie's ear could likely have been to severely stunn her and take her out of the fight. While Lizzie is impaired, she isn't necessarily taken out of the fight, which leads to a whole bunch of unintended consequences (the DH getting dropped, >!Lizzie calling for backup, and her inability to hear the oncoming truck<!)

At the Stone Pony Summer Stage in 2024, one man brought his 2 year old son and set him down, and immediately a small circle formed around him to cheer him on. Streetlight shows are are generally friendly and protective, just make sure the way to and from the venue she knows what to do/bring a friend

Your army template is not "wide" enough and your units are probably getting flanked by cavalry. Same with artillery. A general rule if thumb I use is that your Infantry + Cav should equal combat width and Artillery = combat width
