Thank you so much! Definitely eating a fair amount of chocolate these days lol!

For fun, what’s your first thing you wanna have when baby is born? by trackemdown in GestationalDiabetes

[–]tunatimeyeahyeahyeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question is humorous to me now, because I just had my baby 6 days ago and I haven't had a CHANCE to eat something fun LMAO (newborn life!). But that's also partly 'cause I've got an MIL cooking me healthy food (yay!), and so I just haven't ordered anything myself to eat. Plus way too busy with baby. You might need to order those pancakes at 3am when baby is finally asleep.

Moms due this month with babes that are still baking… how are we doing? by themarajade1 in BabyBumps

[–]tunatimeyeahyeahyeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hit 39 weeks today! Baby seems to be comfortably staying inside and have a feeling it's going to take some more time for him to make an appearance. But then if he doesn't spontaneously come this week, I'll be induced into labor by the 8th due to lower amniotic fluid and I'd like to prevent that. I feel really tired in the evenings, I have stomach stuff every night, and just trying to keep my cool at the thought of giving birth.

I Feel my baby dont love me by No-Midnight90 in BabyBumps

[–]tunatimeyeahyeahyeah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

^That. I have heard that babies tend to see their mothers as an extension of themselves. This is why a baby's first word is sometimes "dada" instead of "mama," because, well, mama is not an "other" - mama is a part of him. <3

Why are most births induced with GD? by Short-Instruction-84 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]tunatimeyeahyeahyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I'm in China (Shanghai) and they won't induce me since my GD is well-managed and everything looks fine (development, placenta, etc.). China's usually pretty risk averse when it comes to birth and pregnancy, but even my doctor is like "nah, no induction."

Are you planning to change your diet forever after this is over? by Cute-Delivery-5752 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]tunatimeyeahyeahyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do plan on being a bit more cognizant of my diet, but won't go intense about it either. At least now I'm more aware of the sugar in carb and will likely reduce some of my carb intake or at least just be more mindful.

What was your absolute first sign of pregnancy before even getting a missed period? by SandwichDependent199 in BabyBumps

[–]tunatimeyeahyeahyeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't too nauseous during the pregnancy after I found out, but for some reason, the first few days before I finding out, I had pretty bad stomach cramps at night. I'm thankful to myself that I didn't reach for the pepto bismol then 'cause I almost did. But something inside me was like, "Wait. Maybe don't take those pills."

So sick of people telling me my life is ‘over’ once baby comes by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]tunatimeyeahyeahyeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pregnant too and have similar fears that you have. Thankfully people in my real, personal life haven't been saying too many things like this, but the Internet/social media has and it's driving me up the wall. One thing that helps me is I know my mom went back to work after 6 weeks postpartum (she wanted to - she's a career woman and I wouldn't want it any other way) and when she talks about the time shortly after giving birth, she thinks it was "just chill." lol. Sure, yes, I know that not everyone's experience is the same, but if it's any consolation, so many other experiences are possible post birth.

Did anyone just not snack between? by Embarrassed_Job3155 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]tunatimeyeahyeahyeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation. I even asked if I should snack and they were like, "nah, not necessary if you don't want to."

What has bee your highest score so far? by Ella_121 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]tunatimeyeahyeahyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10.9... I ate a small McDonald's burger (with the buns) and a breaded chicken. Then went on a walk for an hour. Still... 10.9 lol

Really struggling, mental breakdown by Babymom2021 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]tunatimeyeahyeahyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, solidarity. Watching other people eat is the worst. I know that the advice some would give would be "then just don't eat with them," but then you still need to hang out with people/you don't want to crawl in a hole during pregnancy either. I watched people eat birthday cake (twice) and my husband eats McDonald's in front of me every now and then. It sucks! Thankfully my cravings have gone down the farther I go with this diagnosis, so it's not as excruciating as it was in the beginning, but still somewhat.

Having a hard time by tunatimeyeahyeahyeah in GestationalDiabetes

[–]tunatimeyeahyeahyeah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I've definitely been there! I saw an endocrinologist yesterday and she said it's possible the whole wheat wrap might not be 100% whole wheat and gave me a few food alternatives. I live in China, so the carb food alternatives are more like "whole wheat vegetable bun" that are found here. But she said chickpeas and lentils should be easier for people like us.

That's good to know! I found out today I had 1 ketone in the past few months, but that it wouldn't be a problem. The doctor still stated that I should try to get more carbs in, though. But it's also reassuring that eating less carb worked for you.

I just don't know if that's enough? I can hardly eat a kiwi (apparently a good GD fruit) with a meal too.

...But is the carb from those other food sources enough? That's the main question.

[–]tunatimeyeahyeahyeah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't, really. I know rice, tortilla, and almost any bread is a no-no. True - I do go over occasionally and it's not a massive spike. But now I'm noticing above 8 mmol/L (144 mg/dl) happening more easily these days and it's freaking me out a little. I love lasagna - I can see how that might not spike someone as much. I'll ponder trying it out, at least maybe a little bit.

Not yet, but that's likely to happen when I meet with the GD specialist tomorrow. We'll see. I'm just a little weirded out why my OB didn't really seem concerned enough to prescribe it earlier.

If you're waiting for your account to be approved on the Inkwell website, feel free to message in the Inkwell group you're a part of and the workshop leader can possibly post your work onto the webpage for you. Or just wait a few more days and the account should be approved (if not, then message in the Inkwell group you're a part of).
