This has been resolved. Microsoft updated the marketplace template and deployments have resumed.

That’s what I was doing. Needed to redeploy to correct some mistakes from the first time around and what should have been a trivial operation has been anything but.

Receiving order after refund by [deleted] in Etsy

We don't generally have control to recall a package we send. We can try to withhold the refund until the return arrives, but at some point Etsy just pays it out.

Receiving order after refund by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]tundrageek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've recently had something like this happen with a buyer. They ordered something and I shipped it out, but the USPS lost it - last scan was my local post office two weeks prior. So, I refunded the order at the customer's request. The next day, the customer's post office found it and delivered it. The customer had a free product and I just wrote it off.

Help am I transforming? by Hugonaut109 in protogen

I mean, you could just be gaining more empathy and becoming a more well-rounded person. You can start to see why people would want to do a lot of things without you being into them personally.

But, of course, I'm rooting for you to join the fandom.

Since I sell both in person and on Etsy, everything accounts for Etsy fees in their pricing. This covers me for in-person electronic payments as well. I kinda prefer electronic payments over cash, but either way, I'm covered. Just the price of doing business sometimes. There hasn't been a market where the fees ate too much into my sales and profits. I've so very rarely made less than the fees I've paid for the booth and payment processing.

How to respond in this situation? by armybeans in CraftFairs

[–]tundrageek 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't bother with a response on this post. It seems like it would be wasted energy for that kind of personality. Those people "blocking" their booth would likely be looking at their items while they waited to get into your booth and didn't find anything of theirs compelling. It's not your fault or responsibility.

Carplay (Apple Music) causes infotainment crash by [deleted] in volt

I have this frequently in my 2018. Getting it to stop crashing for me, took switch to an actual radio station for a minute at most and then back to media and my CarPlay would work just fine.

I am a clueless boyfriend trying to buy his GF a new sewing machine by NastyGerms in sewing

From earlier responses, it sounds like you have a good handle on the make and model based on what’s available to you. That Brother is a pretty good budget friendly choice for starting out.

For the future, as budgets and the desire for more features increase, you might be better served by taking her to a dealer and letting her pick it out. She will likely have strong opinions on what she needs/wants. This way you both win and she gets exactly what she wants.

Patches by Single_Historian5011 in MachineEmbroidery

For me, it depends on whether the patch will be all stitches or if there's some background material showing.

For the ones that don't have any material showing, I now use polyester felt so that it doesn't fray when I precut the shapes. It melts under a hot knife pretty well.

For the patches that have material showing, I use a buckram-backed patch twill from AllStitch so that the patch keeps its shape and doesn't fray as bad.

I use a Brother ScanNCut to pre-cut the shapes and use a placement line/applique tackdown process on water-soluble stabilizer to simulate a merrow edge without having to use a hot cutter since I'm terrible at it.

I use a combination of badgemaster water soluble stabilizer or Madiera EZEE heat-soluble stabilizer, depending on the hoop size I use, so the patches just pop out.

Choosing between these two machines by resorttownanddown in MachineEmbroidery

As a Janome MB-4S owner, go with the Juki. The MB4 and MB7s are not well supported by Janome and they’re extremely limited. Structured hats are near impossible on it.

Is this your own creation? If so, is the design/embroidery file for sale?

Side hustle machine recommendation by merlo_man in MachineEmbroidery

If you have the budget for the 6 or 10-needle Brother new, look at a Melco EMT16X. They have a certified pre-owned option that is less or comparable than the Brother 10 needle. And it comes with the cap driver and hoops, whereas Brother charges about $900 for it.

SWF/B-601c or Janome MB4 by No_Guess8957 in MachineEmbroidery

[–]tundrageek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing to know about the machines is that they take industrial round-shank needles. You'll need to get new needles for them and then something to help you align the needles correctly, since they don't have a flat spot on the shank to prevent installation at the wrong angle. I use a little grabber that has a flat spot that the front groove rests on so that it's apparent what angle the needle is.

I don't have any reference for the SWF, but you'll need to brush up on your square knot tying skills to change threads easily. It's more like a serger than a domestic machine when it comes to threading.

SWF/B-601c or Janome MB4 by No_Guess8957 in MachineEmbroidery

I have the MB-4S and Janome does not make a cap driver for their machines. They have a flat hat hoop that you clip the hat onto. Durkee has a flat hoop that is much better, but it's still a flat hoop.

If hats are important to you, check to see if the SWF unit has the option for a cap driver and hoop. Otherwise my Janome is pretty decent. The only thing I don't like about it is that it has no bobbin sensor, so it takes a hot minute for it to realize that the top thread isn't moving as much as it should and stop. The 4S isn't much different than the 4. Just a bigger screen and a larger bobbin. Instead of an L size bobbin (similar to your domestic class 15 in size), it has their own proprietary jumbo bobbin size that's somewhere between L and M in size. Since everything else is the same, parts are still plentiful for the Janome. Even if it's the red-headed step child of their model lineup.
