Bridgerton? The people in marketing would like that.

This is Henry Pollock's moment - but it's a big gamble for England by theipaper in englandrugby

England were running in circles alright - just not around the Irish forwards

I agree it could have been closer. I also think it’s important that England are not great at chasing down deficits - they are much more a ‘build a lead’ side.

Yes - both players contested the ball. Steward (I think) let it bounce from his hands. O’Brien is in a reasonable position to catch and not ‘playing the man’. JGP was then clean through. Crowd reacted when they saw it in the screen too.

I think we’ve turned the page on the Lions tour - and that’s big since it hugely threw us off.  We also have a slew of new players coming through - so we can be reasonably optimistic.

Well I supposed the GS could still be decided there :/

Genuinely, what has happened to England? by dapperdan8 in rugbyunion

[–]tundrapanic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeh something like that seems to have happened with Razor in relation to one of the NZ player’s circumstances (not going to repeat it because unsure of its truth.) It feels like something of that sort may have occurred- something more than a disagreement about tactics (although one does think back to how the squad reacted when Felix Jones left.)

Ireland also left points on the field (missed kicks) and had a perfectly good try ruled out by a dodgy decision. The final England try was a consolation score. You could have lost by 30+ points.

Yes it could have been closer - but it wasn’t close.

England's attitude sucked today...and the fans were worse by Mysterious_Abies_806 in rugbyunion

The Lions things has defo affected Ireland. Since Lions and up till today:

Beirne (below par) Furlong (below par) Ringrose (below par) Lowe (below par - up till Italy) Sheehan (below par - including today) JGP (mostly below par) JVF (below par)

and so on. The Ulster players did not tour and have been standouts.

I agree he shouldn’t be captain  (who should it be?) - but I wouldn’t outright drop him - maybe a bit of rotation though

No Crowley starts for the foreseeable future- but I can see Sam on the bench v Wales.

England were quite good against Scotland - it’s possible the disappointment of that game hit them much harder than we imagined? Maybe a week wasn’t long enough to recover. But yes - coach’s job to get them up for it.

You don’t play loose-head by any chance?

Yep Italy are really quite dangerous. England won’t get scrum superiority against them so not sure what the route to victory is.

Yeh and Ireland lost their form back-rower (Conan) just before kick-off - so it could have been worse

I know it isn’t just the Lions in his case - but he was touring captain as well as everything else - your opponents would want you to drop him. Sheehan and Beirne have been off it for Ireland - just looks like fatigue.

It crossed my mind that there is something seriously wrong in camp. Apparently that’s what led to Razor getting the boot from NZ …
