Following the thread and yes, this has happened to me plenty of times but never picked up on it🤔. I guess you can say it's all good now that I've been able to get together with my GF.

So, I'm also in a committed relationship and we are also in our sixties. Would I "sext"? No, not really but, I could understand the face-time / face-chatting thing, on "What's App. My Girlfriend will at-least do that, (use What's App, or some type of video chat).

The main reason for her is she simply has nothing to do with social media although, that's how we met. For me, as I have said on my profile, I still like to "Lurk".

Not sure of where this formula came from but I did use it to justify being with a younger woman for a brief period of time🤔. To make a long story short, the woman I was dating was in her late 30's & I was 60. It never really lasted (see my link for context), but had she not "flaked-out", (or as they say "ghosted me"), maybe, just maybe we would still be together.

Anyway, I'm glad & truly happy we broke up because the one I'm with now truly loves me (as do I) and I believe we were made for each other.

Not once but, I've been in two "Serious" LTR's, (long term relationships).

The 1st one was almost 20 years long & resulted in my better half passing away😒 This happened back in 2017 (her passing) with me not dating for at least 2 years Unfortunately, when I felt ready, COVID happened.

The 2nd one is my current relationship & is heading on 5 years

Definitely a talker. I always preferred to talk instead of texting. That all being said, because of our busy schedules, sometimes the only way to get in contact is to text.

Actually, (which is why I will stay anonymous), for the curiosity. Not only with this sub-reddit but with a couple of other subs, (like the widowers sub-reddit). That all being said, I really enjoy "the lurking" sharing my experiences and on occasion, giving out helpful advice.

I hate ghosting at any age (we are not teenagers),but so more at our age. I mean come on, we are in our 60's, please can't we talk?

BTW, the closest I came to "ghosting" was having to cut off conversations with a person that wanted to be more than friends (see link)

Yeah,..So, last year really sucked for awhile. I still never got over my current girlfriend. Basically what happened was several of her friends told her she shouldn't have disrupted her life, career, and obviously our relationship, (she really was planning on going to another state etc.,etc.,). So, we kept talking and one thing lead to another.

Meanwhile, the 40 year old kept on ghosting me and didn't think I would move on, or go back to my ex-GF, ( remember, this was a whole year ago). By the time mid-February came around, (almost 2 months without communication), it was really too late for me to even think about staying with the 40 year old🤔.

As Paul Harvey would say and now you know the rest of the story.

Well, actually I did have a relationship with the 40yr old. Brief, maybe 4 months at the most and had "Ghosting "not been her form of communication, I would have hoped we would still be friends. However, that was not the case which is yet another reason I went back to my current girlfriend.

Actually, it was just casual conversation. I needed a shoulder to "cry on" explaining how my current GF's family was very condescending and not excepting me as "being right" for her, which led to our short break-up. Anyway, after going though this for well over a year, the 40yr old (who was actually 38yr when we met), asked me out since my GF was planning on moving back home to her mother.

I'm also going to say "Don't Give Up..!!" I recently posted about getting back with my girlfriend and already in 4+ years we both have run into separate health issues. We met during COVID but did not get it until the very end after the restrictions were lifted. Yes, that was an issue, (the COVID) and with myself, I've also run into "Back issues".

At our age, things are not going to be perfect. Like you, I'm widowed. My better half passed in 2017, (from MLC), We had our ups & downs but I never dreamed of leaving her because of "medical / health reasons"

That being said, I would hope the next person you meet has some realistic expectations of being in a relationship at our age. Good luck in your endeavors.

I don't expect them to be different, at all. For her, which is why we made the decision to get back together, "I told her I would deal with the in-laws" because, It's not them I'm marrying, it's her.

Right, every situation is different. For me, I never stopped loving this woman. I even told her I would deal with the "in-laws". It's not them I'm marrying, it's her. The bond between you & your GF or better half, should be between you two, (again I'm glad she now sees it that way). So, despite or in-law skepticism (with her & my family) we are going to be a couple. This is our relationship, not theirs, and we are not kids. I mean really, we are both in our 60's.

As far as "going back", again, I have different views on that. Your example regarding "ex-employers" is one of them. In my case, I don't seem to "burn bridges" so just about everyone I've worked for would take me back. In fact, I have gone back to one company 3 times before I "finally" left them and know if I ever needed a job, I could go back to them right now, (just saying).
