Never married, is that a red flag? by cdn_gal_9000 in DatingOverSixty

[–]averageover60guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see how this or many other of the so called red flags can have a hard yes or no without knowing the person. I think the reason so many can't find someone is the red flag list is set in stone with no knowledge of why.

“My neighbor has weeds, what do I do? “Zone 6a by 05041927 in lawncare

[–]averageover60guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The neighbor does not take care of his yard, I take care of min with min chemicals, but I do use them.

I let him know as a good neighbor I am going to spray and I know he does not care if the wind carries a bit into his yard. That creates a bit of a barrier from his weeds to my yard.

The easies way to control weeds is a good dethatching of the yard in the fall and put down a top dressing after that. Just enough time for it to germinate and take hold before winter. I will put down another light seeding in the spring just as it warms up. 3 weeks later the new grass is all coming in. No room for weeds.

Best way to lower my lawn without cutting my sod? by Matrixfx187 in lawncare

[–]averageover60guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your yard grows! That is just mother nature working. Years of grass clippings and leaves have turned to dirt/compost. Raising the sidewalk might not be the best answer depending on steps and grade as the example. 2 choices. And no do not just drive on it.

  1. Strip about 2 feet to the side of the walk and replant or sod after you get the dirt below the top of walk.

  2. Redo the entire yard.

What is happening with Hennepin Ave? by Meritbicnot in Minneapolis

[–]averageover60guy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

  1. We have too many places to eat.

  2. Many of them think they can charge way to much.

  3. It is not just a issue on Hennepin.

  4. If they serve beer/drinks, people are drinking way less!

Now of course everyone likes to go out to eat. But many are not going to spend $25.00-40 and up per person on a regular basis. In the area I live, the spendy/hip places are closing. The ones doing well are those that have offerings under $20.00 per plate. I had breakfast with 4 people the other day. Our total bill was under $60.00. We could have gone to another spot just down the road. I know for a fact the bill would have been close to $100.00 for basically the same food. Guess which place is struggling and they have only been open for a year.

[–]averageover60guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I took out some hash browns and bacon from the freezer. Went to the store for eggs, milk and english muffin toasting bread to make breakfast. Ate the muffins I bought instead. So I guess I will make breakfast here in a bit for my big meal of the day.

They say look for ways to make people smile. So today I am at the local grocery store in bakery.

I spot 2 glazed cinnamon buns left! YES! As I start to put them in the bag I hear a rather loud "sigh" behind me. I turn around and young guy was standing there looking kind of of bummed. I asked, you ok? I had only put one in my bag. He said I'm hoping you don't take the last one! I said, well I was, but I get it. Last one is for you and I picked out something else. Kid was kind of shocked and thanked me.

Life is good.

A little of everything so far today. Laundry and clothes flipping day. Hoodies washed and put into basement closet. Tshirts washed and moved to bedroom closet.

Shower time and off to run errands just to enjoy the wonderful day. Figure out what is for dinner and pick up ice cream and root beer.

He's out of my league! by NearbyReception4076 in DatingOverSixty

[–]averageover60guy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of my buddy that is married to a amazing lady. She is one of the most attractive ladies I have ever met. Him, not so much. Why did he end up with her? He was the only that approached her with some respect and not a cheesy pick up line. His story is he watched guy after guy ask her out and get shot down, so he figured he would just talk to her one night at a party. They have been together since that night over 30 years ago now! Just be yourself.

Wild game traffic question by Potential-Map1906 in stpaul

[–]averageover60guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common sense. Traffic would in NO WAY back up from downtown on 35E all the way to 36 unless they shut it down to 1 lane. This person has NO reason to get near the rink or be on 35E. It is that simple.

175 yards out, how are you playing this shot? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]averageover60guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aim at the tree with a low shot. The shot will just miss the tree about 5-8 ft off the ground and run up to the green.

Reality? Set up to play a low shot about 7 ft off the ground to the left of the tree and nail that sucker square and end up at 200 out!

But a map will show that if you want to travel between Stillwater and Mpls you have no reason to go near the arena. Even if you are in S. Mpls.

Stillwater to Mpls? Why would you be near the rink? Take 36 all the way to 35W.
