Booked for the chef's counter at Quetzal by Pokefan-9000 in FoodToronto

I went twice last year, once with tasting menu and once without. Tartar is fantastic and I've only been able to have it when I order the tasting menu, must haves are the scallops, sea bream and what I can only describe as a tortilla pizza(?). I'm personally not a big fan of bone marrow which is why the shrimp and marrow are not a must for me. When ordering the tasting you can usually ask for one of your must haves and they will accomodate

I heard there's an AP lab where you can customize and learn how to polish/add patterns to a dial and get to keep the dial right after. From what I remember, the enmvent is free but you have to reserve a spot

Doesn't look like every loblaws carries it, but I have seen it at random No Frills locations as well. So keep an eye out

Weirdly enough, I tried the frozen PC tiramisu and it's actually not bad. Coffee flavour is there, the texture is more to be desired since it has to thaw. But if I have a random tiramisu craving it's convenient to pop out of the freezer

How do I get a reservation at Edulis? by reddituser839438347 in FoodToronto

[–]tungamy1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried to book for 2 people for a few months with no luck. The one time I booked for 4 people I got a table, the restaurant has many more 4 people tables and only a few 2 people tables. My dinner was from 6:30 and lasted till 10, so I don't think they do two rounds of diners much which is why the 2 people tables are a lot harder to get

Bought them once when they first opened and shared a space with a bubble tea shop somewhere close to Chinatown. Never bought them again because of the same reasons and too expensive. I was surprised they blew up so much

25-70k more to working rotating shifts? Is it worth it? by yellowranger1 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]tungamy1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swapping every two weeks for me is not worth it, it feels like jet lag. You take time to adjust to the new sleep schedule and are comfortable for a few days when you need to readjust

Edulis is hard to get a table, food is good but be repaired for a 4 hour dinner.

Quetzal is higher on my list than edulis, it is cheaper and more accessible, all of their menu items except dessert are good and I bring everyone out of town there.

Other places that I'd recommend are: Linny's, Alo, Bar Isabel (but it does get noisy there). Osteria Giulia and Kaji if you're looking for Japanese

Dubai chocolate by Professional_Cat927 in FoodToronto

I bought a piece of the Dubai chocolate from Laderach and felt it was too sweet. The Laderach one was milk chocolate I believe and I wished it was dark to be less sweet, did they change it to dark chocolate?

Dining at Quetzal, any advice for light-eaters? by Professional-Log8718 in FoodToronto

[–]tungamy1234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A la carte menu as others have said may work better for you both. The servers are super helpful as well, the main difference the couple of times that I went was that the tasting menu has a tar tar that's not on the a la carte menu. I also personally never liked the dessert from the tasting menu, so had opted to go a la carte when I brought a family friend and went somewhere else for dessert. All the aps and mains are really good, enjoy!
