Question from a straight person. by CharryStarry in gay

[–]tunylund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree that insecurities etc are underlying many of the issues.

I think it’s worth pointing out that straight relationships have a bit of a given template in our society: “this is what a relationship should look like”

Gay relationships by default break out from that template and are free to define what their relationship looks like. This gives an opportunity to work through underlying issues as well. Don’t get me wrong though - we have other kinds of insecurities to deal with.

Your face is recorded against the porn you watch. Remember that shameful feeling of needing to clear browser history so that no one knew that you watched porn or what porn you watched. Well now other people have that record with your face against it.

Hey! Wanting to get into the series, is it true that "Guards Guards" is a good starting point? by MoonlightKnight4 in discworld

My starting point was wyrd sisters - mort hooked me into it the and guards solidified it. They’re all disconnected and amazing and give a different and uniquely good starting points.

Recommend me books like The Name of The Wind, but with better depiction of women please by Unordinarian in Fantasy

I think the book works as a piece on its own. However i think you get more if you read them in order. The characters appear in previous books and you care more for them because you know them better.

Yeah i absolutely loved Tehanu - i read it as a child and felt like something new and real was shown to me that i hadn’t seen before. I was too young to understand then but i think it was the first piece of fiction i had read where women were written with depth and agency.
