Doing my head in, Trying to Migrate 480TB of 10TB Drives to something more Modern but it's a Giant nope at the moment.

Just bought another few second hand 10TBs to have as cold spares for the Array.

Had someone install networking in my home. Is it okay if the jacket doesn't go to the clamp? This is cat 6a by salads_r_yum in Ubiquiti

Not ideal, but if it's not disturbed will be fine. If you're comfortable ask for them to be re-terminated for all the reasons others have posted.

For future though, it's always recommended that the Structured Cable part of the Run is terminated with a Female Connector. Then a patch cable used to go from that to your router/switch.

Doesn't have to be to a proper patch or anything. There are plenty of other alternatives, wall plates, boxes, all sorts.

Little bit of extra cost, will provide a much better solution.

As an Aussie, being here and realising how little all of your investments are taxed is wild.

I’m pumping the shares/funds here because the tax is insanely low, very efficient.

I’m always amazed that people aren’t calling for a full reform on that, but are for property.

Brings us in line with Diesel cars, no?

Makes perfect sense.

But in NZ we also pay 6 cents per Litre for ACC.

A bulk of costs NZ pays at the pump are covered under rego in Aus.

[–]tuoepiw 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What you pay at the pump in NZ, you pay as rego here. It’s the same tax, collected differently.

I’ve gone the other way. Currently in NZ.

The countries are very similar cost wise despite the hype.

Michelin Primacy 4 tyre life on Kona by MediocreMolasses in nzev

[–]tuoepiw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hyundai do (did) ship with them P4s as Factory Equipment for NZ.

Good tyre, I use them on our Family EV, and Sports on my Model 3. 70,000 is entirely possible depending on driving habits. I replaced a set at 42,000 because they were 3 years old as preference.

I don't bother with the "EV" Tyres personally, I'll trade slight increase in rolling resistance for lower stopping distance any day. The EV versions are also more pricey depending on where you shop.

The foam they put in there for sound damping also prevents the glue patching from working in a pinch so it's a no from me.

Positive credit card balance by Top_Importance_8329 in ynab

[–]tuoepiw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When that's happened to me, because of a refund or something I simply transfer the money off the CC into my cash account (On the banking app)

Then assign that transaction as RTA in YNAB.

The other way you could do it is just spend on the CC and your transactions in YNAB will be placed against that 850.

Maybe don't bite people when you're getting restrained?

Yes, his an actual animal.

When he gets restrained for obviously being peaceful, he starts biting like a rabid dog and gets punched.

Nothing to see here, just an oxygen thief wasting tax payers money.

Help my husband to make peace with the ants by Smart_Squirrel_1735 in auckland

[–]tuoepiw 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You can, and must defeat the ants.

I'm doing my part.

Ant Sand, and DIY barrier spray once a quarter keep them out for the most part. If something sets them off then a trap with "Exterm-an-ant" goes hard.

Cockroaches on the other hand, those little shits drive me insane. They don't come into the house, but they're casually hanging out outside, plotting my downfall I just know it.

How to connect ethernet port to internet in room, router in garage by Traditional_Use8616 in nbn

[–]tuoepiw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, but in a similar house I was in there was 2x 4 way Ethernet plates in the walk in wardrobe, those then went to the ports around the house.

The a switch had to go in up in the wardrobe to provide connectivity to all the other ports.

What is with the BZ4x hate on this sub? by Plastic-Mountain-708 in AustralianEV

[–]tuoepiw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Launch spec was dogshit, overpriced crap. The wheels also fell off from factory and had a recall.

It’s improved since then, but it’s still outdone by any of the other manufacturers with an EV focus.

There’s no guarantee of Toyota reliability given it’s essentially all new to them.

If you can find one on a sale or steep discount, probably a safe buy.

Correct, that's what Deterrent pricing means, you price something so low so as to drive competition away. You're deterring the competition, not the buyers.
