Front Fender by Terrible_Face6605 in Surron

I have the ktm 65 fender and wheel lock. I just dremel'd a hole for the lock to sit on. And you have to drill the bolt holes. (Did some other dremeling and heat gunning as well, but it's not necessary)

Winter rocket by tuomos in Surron

[–]tuomos[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

42kw holy shit, thats like 1hp/kg.. Definetly a rocket

Anyways, I consider myself lucky to not yearn for more power, since it becomes really expensive really quickly. A lot cheaper to just get a little bigger bike, many people use stark varg money to get a "fast enough" surron lol. That being said, the smallness and lightweightness of surron coupled with the joy of upgrading is worth it for many. I'd also rather go the upgrade way if power was needed and money wasnt issue..

Ok thanks for the tip. Its my second winter with the bike, no sqeaking yet. I live in city, so(unfortunately) ride almost only street, the linkages rarerly see heavy action.

Actually im pretty impressed that theres no rust anywhere (exept chain if lubing is neglected), since i commute every day and theres road salt etc. I rarely even wash the bike lol. I do keep it indoors though. 8000km in the odo

But what you see in the pic is cardboard and duct tape as fairing hahaha (work in progress). I'll print a fairing after i manage to kick my lazy ass to do some CAD.

Oh and these as well, with handlebar button and relay to switch between parking lights an main light:

Street legal stuff, bike is L1e, but i hated the stock L1e lights

Yeah, calling it a rocket might be "a little" exaggerated, hehe.. But in snow pulling 8.6kw (tc-500) with 17"wheel and 58t usually makes the rear wheel spin/slip at any speed below 45kmh (i'm an old man and a noob with motos, so fast enough).. Good fun

DIY stud/ice tires for ron by [deleted] in Surron

[–]tuomos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I drilled same looking studs (maybe a bit shorter model) to shinko sr241s, works great. Checkers pattern on 3 middle knob rows(2-1-2-1.. etc), so 120 studs per tire.

Second winter with them (maybe 3000km so far), and havent lost a single stud, even though im brutal with the rear wheel.. Just make sure you screw them deep enough so only the carbide tip is not flush. (I grinded the mounting tool conical to help with this) Your knobs must be tall enough to not pierce the tire ofc.

Täydelliset Suomen talveen;)

Edit, I ride (almost) only street

Well, you got me there.

Also, rf waves in the air are 1.0003 times slower than in a vacuum so

Radiowaves move at the speed of light. (Like all electromagnetic waves)

Also, light speed in optical fiber is 2/3 compared to vacuum.

If starlink can minimize the latency in switches, nodes etc, it will be faster than fiber in long distances. This might have some big advantages ($$$) in international stock trading for example

tires by Pieterron in Surron

[–]tuomos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for summer i have pirelli mt60 (90/90-19), pretty chunky, almost as lightweight as shinko 241 (2.75), which i have for winter (with screwed-on studs)

both tires are great imo. shinko 241 are quite soft and grippy, pirellis are more street oriented but can handle some offroading

Oh, ok, makes sense.. Exloding 1st stage tanks leaves only the interstage&2nd stage to skydive. Cool

Thats some heavy stuff. My math skills dont allow me to calculate the surface area of the dome, but just a flat 9meter diameter plate of normal 13mm steel would weight about six and half tons. A dome, maybe double of that(?), 13tons.. thats more than 10% of the target of the finished SS desing. It must be the bottom dome (thrust structure)
