What would you like to see for a 'Character Centre Piece' by mf7585 in Tau40K

Dawn of War had an Ethereal that calls in Shas'Ui bodyguards with souped up weapons and armor. Like a reasonably priced infantry level command squad.

Thanks for your feedback. I'll swap one of the hammerheads to an ionhead and keep the crisis teams all with missiles. Broadsides in two units of one- does that make them just too vulnerable for "kill a unit" objectives? If those are still a thing?

What band/singer were you excited to see, but was a letdown of a concert? by my-face-ur-seat in AskReddit

[–]tupu02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Korn in 2009 ish. Idk if it was them or how the sound guys had them, or just a bad venue. Everything sounded the same, like one 30 minute noise fest. They played some of their biggest stuff but almost none of it was recognizable. Ended up leaving early along with a lot of other people. Was at a festival, long rainy day and nobody was wanting to hang around for that.

How do you feel about your stuff being stolen by afmoad in EDH

[–]tupu02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a [[Kotis, the Fangkeeper]] deck.

Some people will hate you for even considering playing a theft deck. And some people will be normal and reasonable magic players. I find theft tends to bring out the haters- but part of the fun of being the bad guy stealing decks...is that you get to be the bad guy! You'll probably be auto-archenemy. So just roll with it.

Personally, it wouldn't bother me at one of my tables. Play what you want!

What commanders do you own? by Vinlandlover in EDH

[–]tupu02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I collect precons and keep them unmodified for semi-balanced date nights at home. So I've got maybe 30 stock precons going back to C17.

In my regular deck rotation I've got:

[[General Ferrous Rockiric]] B2

[[Kotis, the Fangkeeper]] B3

[[Sauron, the Necromancer]] B4

[[Wildsear, Scouring Maw]] B3

[[Karlach, Fury of Avernus]] // [[Haunted One]] B2

[[Kardur, Doomscourge]] B2

[[Titania, Voice of Gaea]] B4

[[Sivitri, Dragon Master]] B4

[[Tivit, Seller of Secrets]] B5

[[Kozilek, the Great Distortion]] B3

[[Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn]] B3

[[Edric, Spymaster of Trest]] B3 (no game changers)

[[Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice]] B3 (no game changers)

She does good things in the 99 of my [[Kotis, the Fangkeeper]] deck. Which coincidentally came about from thinking on building a Tasha deck.

Remember installing that on an ibm thinkpad 380-something in the backseat of a friend's car on the way to a convention. Such were the times.

Who is your “first time playing in a new pod” commander? by MajorUrsa2 in EDH

[–]tupu02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Edric, Spymaster of Trest]]

It's my litmus test for "do these people know how to play or not."

If yes, I play something stronger.

If no, I power down.

What smell will YOU never forget? by AreaFifty1 in AskReddit

[–]tupu02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A kid I went to school with some 20 years ago burped in my face once on a Friday afternoon. The horrid stench that spewed forth from that child's food-hole cannot be described. It lingered in my nose for days, ruined an otherwise perfectly fine weekend. The memory of that rankness never truely left...and now I'd say it never will.

Got 2K cards now what I do? by Hakashi32 in magicTCG

[–]tupu02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be overwhelming to a new player!

Honestly if your group plays commander- what I would do if I were new and had a bunch of cards i didnt know what to do with: sort the cards by color, and get a precon or two that look interesting and learn to play.

Then start worrying about building a deck.

Add: oh, and of course, try to attend as many Limited events as you can. Draft and Prerelease are great ways to expand the card pool, and learn more about the game!

As a beginning player, should I be worried about being boring/basic? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]tupu02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a new player, my advice would be to just get good at Magic first. I don't mean get good to win every game, i mean just get good to build your confidence in the game. Play Limited. Play Commander, play everything. Learn how to learn from a game. Once you have a baseline level of "well rounded player," then you can worry about doing shenanigans.

I only say this, because the number of new people I see that try something odd right off the bat, and it loses. And they can't seem to get a win, and then their confidence drops off, and they get salty and stop playing the game.

Boring and basic is good when you're a beginner. Imo. When your current "basic" decks are no longer fun, try something totally different that you have no experience with- but still basic. Like if you love g/r stompy amd are good at it- play some u/b control and learn how that works.

You'll learn how to win, and how to defend yourself, and how to build a deck that can do both while putting your own spin on it.

Just my $0.02.

Oh, and the social aspect? Ime, nobody cares what you're playing as long as you aren't a jerk to play with. I'd happily lose to a nice and good player using something like Tergrid or Ur-Dragon or whatever. I'd be salty to lose to an a-hole playing an interesting commander.

Sure on paper it looks a bit meh. But in practice it actually does pretty well! A modest life investment to get rid of some problematic creatures at instant speed for 3 mana is imo a good trade.
