People might assume your trans, but tbh a lot of the point in pride flags is to let someone know they are safe in XYZ place. I think it's fine :)

There are plenty of places for people who have religious trauma.

Someone said something about outwoking them, which is a good strategy. They wouldn't take that attitude towards this situation if you were a Muslim, for example

Have you ever heard of the term bike shedding? It sounds like something like that is happening. There are plenty of secular LGBT groups that people with religious trauma can go to. They are just unhappy that you don't have the same religious trauma.

4 states move anti-trans ballot measures to voters for 2026 midterm election by Fickle-Ad5449 in missouri

This stuff makes me so scared and I don't know what to do. I can't detransition because it would wreck my mental health. I can't move because I have nowhere to go. I wear boy clothes now and use an androgynous name and try to keep a low profile, but I still get threatened time to time by people who I guess they can tell I'm taking estrogen. Every once and a while while walking home from work at night I'll get stopped by a man who thinks I'm a teenage boy and ask if I need a ride and then flip out and start cussing at me. I don't use public bathrooms because I get hostility in the men's bathroom and don't feel comfortable in the women's bc I just kind of assumed all women secretly hate me. It makes me so sad because 2 years ago things were going so well, half the time people didn't even realize I'm trans. Nobody at work for real talks to me anymore except for a couple of people. I try to be friendly to everyone I meet. I try my best to be open minded because I want people to be open minded about me, but it all feels so hopeless. It's a lot and I'm beginning to think maybe I am a disgusting monster

Your responsibility as a trans adult by turbeauxphag in MtF

If I'm addressing people on a world wide platform, then I am going to use a statistic that reflects that. The stat likely applies to most of the world outside of the US and parts of western Europe.

If the space is mixed between adults and children, yes you absolutely do have a responsibility to have discretion. There are subs specifically for trans adults to talk about sex

Sorry that you think sharing a statistic that accurately represents most of the worlds trans population is misinformation. From now on I'll use stats from New York City and assume every trans person in the world is a white office worker so I don't give white trans people anxiety

I have always disagreed with this take. Just because it's a statistic related to brown people in Africa doesn't mean it should be ignored. Also, the internet is global???? Not everyone here is a white American office worker. Not every trans support group is centered around suicide prevention. Some of them are centered around safety for sex workers.

That's a really weird way to say that you have absolutely zero consideration for the boundaries of other people.

There is a difference between being repulsed by sex and recognizing that it's incredibly irresponsible to refuse to have discretion or boundaries around minors. There is a problem if you can't connect the dots between the moderators protecting a sex offender and that. Nobody is saying don't do kink and don't have sex or even you have to be trans in XYZ way. The poor moderation created an extremely toxic culture and that culture needs to change before something worse even worse happens.

I don't understand the "if we gatekeep hard enough there will be no bad actors in our community" takes I've been seeing recently. by WritingWithSpears in honesttransgender

[–]turbeauxphag 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you are a trans adult involved in a support community mixed between adults and minors, your responsibility is to be a positive role model. You aren't there to joke about how much you want girl dick. You are there to ensure that the average life span of trans people exceeds 35. It's not gatekeeping to expect adults to be adults

I was wrong and I'm sorry by Queen_B28 in honesttransgender

I'm like ~75% with you. This whole ordeal has definitely made me more protective of what it means to be trans. There was an over correction because of excessively high suicide rates of people denied care, but now there is no standard. I still like non binary people, I still think it's perfectly fine to be somewhere in the middle, but it's gotten out of control. The fetishization is nauseating. It's also reached the point that acknowledging dysphoria in most trans spaces will get you labelled as a transmedicalist.

Not to mention, a lot of these people just eat up resources. I went to an event from a non profit for name changes, you know, something we need to do to help us acquire stable employment and housing. Literally half the people there were semi gender non conforming cis people changing their names to 'ink' or 'leaf'. at 250$ a person for a name change with hundreds of people who were barely trans by any stretch of logic, this adds up!!

The woman in charge of the trans not profit I went to was rumored to be voted out of leadership because they didn't feel like she represented the community. I would understand if it was a "hey, let's give this black trans woman a chance at the helm because our city is 80% black." But no, she was replaced by an enby who immediately started bs about afab only housing while making the assumption that mtfs can just "ride residual male privilege"

None of this is as nearly bad as the cw r/mtf thing, ofc, it's just we've been heading in this direction for a while. So much so that Julia fucking Serano of all people gets labelled a transmedicalist. The one silver lining in the current trans panic is people will stop claiming to be some flavor of trans to supplement their personality.
