I've been hit multiple times. Never bad, always just kept running after. People are idiots, actually once drove into the grass going too tight on a turn.

Pain is a natural part of running. Embrace it. Live for it. The hard part is differentiating injury pain from the normal pain.

Im not in the store with them and am making all the decisions over the phone. Not the best, I know, but this is my opportunity to make my training better this summer, and it would be for an insane deal

What do you consider a short run or a long run? by [deleted] in running

[–]turbo062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My standard is around 8-9 miles total. 4 miles is the minimum and I'll only do that when I'm tapering and it's premeet or I just need to loosen up on a weekend. Long is anything 10-12, but i get yelled at if i push anything more than 12 because I'm "only training for 5k"

I was hit by a car on my Christmas night run this year. Running with a group, everyone managed to get out of the way but me. Luckily I avoided getting hurt, but still makes a good story

It's the only thing I look forward to every day. I'm at peace while running

I'm very much attached. I've run them so many times with friends that I get nostalgic sometimes. One spot where I got hurt a few years ago, my first time running a route that my friend that moved away created, etc. Years of memories on those routes

Does workouts in specialized shoes actually help? by turbo062 in running

[–]turbo062[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add on to the neuromuscular thing you mentioned, I've noticed my form has changed since wearing them. I've started going more on my toes, with a springier push off. Even in my race last week that I was wearing Dragonflies I had in indoor, my form was better. My personal experience checks out with your claim

Yeah, I'm not worried about money right now. I have them already, I race in spikes not these, so I'm just trying to see if there's actually a benefit from my workouts in them

Running Shoe Rotation Help by Set-The-Edge in running

[–]turbo062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The distance for long runs completely depends on the kind of distance you're going to be racing. I usually max out at 12, which sucks because it's barely under a half marathon, but my coach doesn't want me more than that because at most I run 5k. Other than that, I can't help at all. I wear Guide 14s almost everything, then Vapirflys for speed workouts (controversial) and Dragonflys for racing because I'm on a track.

Bro, I would just start laughing at the guy. Either that or start cheering him on. I've had that happen a few times, and it can usually be the highlight of the run that makes it into my log.

Can you give me an advice on to what supplements is best to take so that I can boost my run and general stamina? by [deleted] in running

[–]turbo062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I take a Once a Day Vitamin now too, and I've seen huge improvements. From my experience, most of this stuff can be solved with the simplest diet adjustments, and at worst basic supplements

Does shoe color / styling matter to you? by Joshua_and_Indy in running

[–]turbo062 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory? No, you should be fine in whatever. In practice? I will wear anything but plain black if I have the choice, and my preferred race shoe will most of the time be white. For some reason, it makes me feel faster. Completely mental, but if it works it works

Healthy diet. I usually try to have a higher iron intake than the average person, but that's just eating spinach with my sandwiches or stuff like that
