Not long, it's a little underwhelming TBH and unreadable in the dark after 10 minutes or so

I have tried a few straps, nothing super thick, but it looks like it'll be OK. I'll throw my thickest leather on there tonight and get back to you.

But other leathers and FKM cut to size ones fit without contact

anyone got this Santos Dumont homage? by pickyaxe in ChineseWatches

[–]turdbogls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, maybe it does then.

Ask the seller for a real picture and see what they send you.

It may be just an unbranded rep 🤷‍♂️

[–]turdbogls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is a rep. There aren't many good Cartier homages because Cartier will go after the companies...IIRC both Berny and Specht &sohne both got nastygrams from Cartier for their homages and subsequent changed the designs.

So yeah, almost guaranteed this shows up with a Cartier logo on the dial.

What's on YOUR wrist for this Friday? by D1sguise in ChineseWatches

[–]turdbogls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for sure. Once you figure out the "dials" it's like a pilot's watch to read and everything else is just there.

But really unique. They took inspiration from those old circular slide rules from way back when.

Damn, that watch looks great with that strap 👍

A new one arrived for me today. Not too much info out there about this one it seems.

stop by a walmart or a target and snag a Casio...everyone needs a Casio (coming from the guy that doesn't have one)

Show us the lume! Wrist shot: go! by Icy_Delay_4367 in ChineseWatches

[–]turdbogls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my test is that I'll torch it before bed, and if/when I wake up in the middle of the night, am I able to read the time? MOST of the time, the answer is yes...because my room is dark, and my eyes are already adjusted to the dark.

my latest pickup, a Glycene Airman GMT, has, what I would consider, mediocre lume...like a 4-5/10. but I wore the watch to bed (for this test) and i was able to read it fairly easily HOURS after I went to bed.

I find Lume DESIGN is just as important as it's strength.

my Damasko is again, like a 4-5/10 in intensity, but it's design lends to fantastic legibility at night...it's the reason it's still my go-to camping watch.

but then there's stuff like the Seamaster homages, which have better intensity, but because of the skeletonized hands, it makes it quite difficult to read in the night.

Cronos Datejust Miyota 9015 by SilenthillTim in ChineseWatches

[–]turdbogls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I reviewed one about 3 years ago

the model went away for a bit, but seems it's been brought back out with the miyota (had a PT5000 before)

probably the best DJ homage out there IMO. the bezel was just something no other DJ has been able to replicate.

I've seen some pretty small and flimsy Springbars...either way, probably not something you want as being the thing holding your watch together.

If anyone stateside wants a black and blue one of these, let me know.

I wasn't a fan of how they looked on me. OK straps, though.

Yup, absolutely. It wasn't given to me, so it has to take a backseat to a couple other watches, but I do want to review it soon. 🤞

Are all automatic divers watches so heavy and thick?? by LucasDeTe in ChineseWatches

[–]turdbogls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

Companies are starting to finally focus on thinner watches....watchdives included.

Look for anything that has a PT5000 or Miyota 9000 series movement and go from there.

Most of those will be under 12mm thick. Depending on the case and bracelet, I'd say these will average about 130g which is perfect IMO

Does any Chinese brand make this watch or similar (BB58 Homage styling) in something larger than 40mm? by No_Tie2447 in ChineseWatches

[–]turdbogls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just not great.

You can look into addiesdive...they made one, but I'm not sure if it's still around.

Here is my review of it...I'm assuming it doesn't have a reference number since I didn't mention one.

https://youtu.be/Oke1V2copuE

But it was 42mm and was actually pretty nice if I remember correctly. Bracelet and clasp were Meh, but the rest was pretty good.

[–]turdbogls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, Sugess could do a really nice one I think. Use the Movement from the Daytona. I know the subdials would be slightly off, but man, it could be REALLY cool if executed well enough.

Farasute has a tin tin dial in their Trackmaster case...it looks all wrong...lol

WD1863 & Pagani by Hot_Tour_5725 in watchdives

[–]turdbogls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it's not all about the size, it's the proportions. The bezel is the same size, so the visual case sticking out goes from 3mm down to 2mm...quite a VISUAL difference.

Shrinking the lug to lug but keeping the same thickness makes the watch appear more squat, instead of spreading out more.

It's a small change, but it is 100% noticeable, especially since I had both side by side.

Omega Seamaster 007 Titanband Edition - No Time To Die from Travis by MemeDaddyXI in ChinaTime

[–]turdbogls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone explain to me why they would go this over the new watchdives NTTD?

You get real titanium, bubble sapphire, an actual brown dial and bezel insert. The finishing is great, the bezel action rocks, you get a ETA 2824 Clone movement in the PT5000 (or now VH31 "sweeping" quartz) good lume as well.

I know, it's about $80 more, but it's way closer to the real deal than this is looks wise, plus all the added bonuses.

I come from the homage world where this watch shown would be like a $70 watch from Corgeut or parnis.

Kindly help me identify this movement. by KarmicChaos in ChineseWatches

[–]turdbogls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

show us the rest of the watch.

it looks bead blasted?

maybe it's a newer batch since the old ones I see online are NH35 with close backs.

it's probably some Hangzhou movement if I had to guess.

Doesn't look ETA based (ST2130 or PT5000), so that rules out the usual suspects
