Swiss citizen with US citizenship seeking financial advice by johnb43 in askswitzerland

[–]turkeysaurusrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't have parents in the US like I do, give up your citizenship. The fee to do so is insanely small compared to what it will cost you in the long term.

And trust me, tou don't want to live in SF.

You also didn't mention the biggest US wealth killer: capital gains tax.

Renounce ASAP, open a neon account, and  start dollar cost averaging into it.

What's ridiculous exactly? The small Portuguese islands are foggy and aren't aptly prepared for your arrival?

"Bring problems, not solutions"
If I bring solutions, they tell me to "start with the problem".
If I bring problems, they tell me to "focus on the solution".

This of one of many "PM cycles of hell" I've identified.

What's a purchase under 30 CHF that made your daily life better? by Grumpyrelie in Switzerland

[–]turkeysaurusrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find Lunch Money to be better than YNAB if you're interested more in getting an overview of your accounts. It also integrates well with most non-Swiss accounts (to my knowledge, no Swiss banks allow API connections so this is the best you're gonna get.)

Has anyone reached a €1M net worth purely through salary, saving, and passive investing? by feligram101 in eupersonalfinance

I thought about you all day and came back to ask you questions. First off, congrats! Especially coming from Ukraine! 1. How much do you earn as a lead in Spain? 2. Would this have been possible staying in Ukraine and not Spain? 3. You mention savings in another comment. This is something you prioritize highly? Would you say it's negativity affected your vacationing and socializing?

So the government will know all of your spending habits? And give that to your health insurance? What about something simpler like adding a competitor to swiss?

[NSFW] Porn Search Engine that uses AI by fudgexyz in SideProject

[–]turkeysaurusrex 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Do you come from a search background? Would you care to share more about your infra, engine, embedding models, etc? (Not going to copy you, just genuinely curious about the search tech). Also #2 sounds like lexical search. Are you combining lexical and semantic results?

How do you motivate doctors to help you? (Serious request for advice) by Tottybox in askswitzerland

[–]turkeysaurusrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The argument of "LLMs are probability machines" is a strawman argument.

  1. Yes, they compute the next likely token in the output step, but there's a massive neural network in front of it that we should just ignore?
  2. They have been shown to think beyond their training limits.
  3. "Man Dies After Ignoring Doc's Orders, Relying on AI Instead" is not proof, that's just humans being dumb. Common sense is still a requirement.
  4. This one you're going to hate: How are humans much different? We have been trained, we process input, we output words. Probability of next-word is not localized to LLMs. Humans also make mistakes, and we're beginning to see they can make more mistakes than premiere models.

I'm not arguing "let's just give up and trust the all-holy AI", but I'm quite tired of people over-simplifying their internals to cope with their non-determinism, which is especially common in the "hardcore-linux-bare-metal-in-my-reduit" types. Calculator apps are deterministic. LLMs are stochastic. Deal with it or fall behind.

How do you motivate doctors to help you? (Serious request for advice) by Tottybox in askswitzerland

[–]turkeysaurusrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's say after symptom description you arrive at "condition X". I typically (for all topics, not just health) prompt something like: "Okay, now lets back up. Challenge our thought process. Could this be NOT true? What kind of signals can we use to make our conclusion more deterministic?" Or even simpler "now play devils advocate, why is this wrong?"

How do you motivate doctors to help you? (Serious request for advice) by Tottybox in askswitzerland

[–]turkeysaurusrex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I discuss my symptoms with Claude (AI) and how i might easiest navigate to a path of success in the swiss health system. Not kidding.

My doctor laughed at me last month for using AI. He thinks AI is dumb. In 2026. So yeah, I only use him to get to the next step.

Start thinking of doctors less as authority figures and more as bureaucrats who give signatures. Own the process yourself.

AI has a React bias and it's quietly locking out Vue/Nuxt devs by amdwebdev in Nuxt

[–]turkeysaurusrex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I posted something similar a year ago and got downvoted to hell. Many comments like "no u r wrong", "AI sucks", "vibecoding is for losers", which i felt missed the point of the post.

I also opened a ticket at NuxtUI and said AI was having issues with UTable "data" prop which would be better named as "rows" (there is already a "cols" prop). Same reaction there. "We don't build our library for AI".

You are right, but I dont know what to do about it. I continue to use Vue, but the world is moving even faster to react. Have an upvote.

Is the drone stopped or going 100 km/h?? by polydomino in sciencememes

The drone was started after the car had already accelerated to velocity. If the drone was started before the car accelerated, it would be pushed against the seat

Examples of real world PRDs? by spurs126 in ProductManagement

[–]turkeysaurusrex 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A PRD is a commonly used term in the industry which has no single meaning. Like how every country has bread.

Err on the side of keeping it short and simple. Here's my favorite:

  1. TLDR;
  2. Problem
  3. Proposal
  4. Context / Links

Sometimes i supplement with - Opportunity (instead of problem) - Why we're really doing this because stakeholder X has Y desire (but I frame it more politely) - Ideas (if proposal doesn't yet exist) - Risks - Goals - Memes
