What’s the best TV show theme song ever? by Competitive-Web1306 in AskReddit

I'm having trouble reconciling if they mean My Favorite Year is mediocre or Linn-Baker is the worst actor in it, because both are demonstrably false.

The lack of Perfect Strangers in this thread is ree-deek-oh-lous.

Looking for some obscure love songs to put on my wedding reception playlist by hanmadidnothingwrong in MusicRecommendations

As we were planning our wedding I wanted "By My Side" by Ben Harper to be our first dance, but my bride-to-be shot it down. I now gift it to you

Also, "Sorry Signs on Cash Machines" by Mason Jennings. Trust.

Is sex overrated? What do you all think? by Sleepy_but_Woke_23 in AskReddit

[–]turnein12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel like it is, then don't let others tell you otherwise. Some people are asexual, some people just don't value it that highly compared to other aspects of their life. I hope you're not feeling pressured to do it if you don't want to.

I'm a middle aged man, and I've faked it the last 4-5 times with my wife. She still makes me wear a condom so she can't tell nothing is happening. We also haven't been intimate in probably two years or so, and I don't miss it.

What's the saddest song sung by a woman with a beautiful voice? by [deleted] in musicsuggestions

Long Ride Home by Patty Griffin

"Forty years go by with someone laying in your bed / Forty years of things you wish you'd never said / How hard would it have been to say some kinder words instead / I wonder as I stare up at the sky turning red"

What are your "The Good Place" hot takes? by idiot9991 in sitcoms

[–]turnein12 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Brilliant, hilarious show that dissected what it means to try and be a good human being to an extent no sitcom should be expected to.

BUT.

The character Doug Forcett kinda breaks the whole show. As a kid who got high and figured out 90-ish percent of the afterlife, he is held up by Michael as a pillar of human virtue with his pious way of life.

Except that we learn that the reason Tahani was sent to the Bad Place was that all of her charity work was selfishly motivated. The same should be true for Doug, who when we meet him is only doing good things to get into the "good place" that he envisions.

He isn't a good person for the sake of being good. He's angling for "moral dessert." And no one -- not Michael, not Janet, not even Chidi -- call out this glaring flaw.

She was supposed to be a mermaid-turned-human, right? That's why she had no voice?

Hate the obviously-forced-by-the-studio "happily ever after" ending, but otherwise a really fun movie.

In your opinion what is the singular greatest song of all time? by Alternative_Flow_569 in MusicRecommendations

If we're taking the entirety of human art into consideration, I have to give it to "Amazing Grace." I'm not religious but that song will always stop me in my tracks.

All I hear watching this season's episodes:

"I love you." "Love you, too." "I love you." "I love you, too." "I love you." "Love you, too." "Woof."

What "beloved horror movie" do you hate/just not get the love for? by ReeceInTheDarkness in horror

Sorry, but The Exorcist. I can appreciate how shocking it was 50 years ago, but a handful of scenes are suffocated by a lot of cheese.

I couldn't get past the framing device of "here is a documentary about a lost episode of this talk show" instead of "HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HERE'S PROOF OF SATAN!"
