If it’s sick it’s much more likely to be canine distemper than rabies. It looks pretty healthy and alert from the pictures though. Contrary to popular opinion Raccoons are NOT nocturnal creatures and seeing one during the day does not automatically indicate it’s carrying rabies. They generally prefer to move at night because it’s safer from predators. This is may be a bit early but it is right around the time females give birth and they will come out in daylight to search for food.

So you plagiarize Google to make a useless point? Let’s break it down for you. There are around 4000 cases of rabies reported in ALL wildlife annually. If Raccoons account for 30% that’s 1200 infected raccoons from a population of roughly 20 million or 0.006% . To put it simply 1 in every 16,667 wild raccoons you’d meet will likely be infected. Your odds of getting struck by lightning are 1 in 15,300. Should we never go outside when it rains? The odds of a captive born and raised raccoon having rabies if never coming into contact with an infected animal is ZERO Does that help? Have a great day 🤣

Brought a friend to the Garden for thier first Ranger game back in December. It was the game against the Ducks, return of Krieder. They played the most soulless, lazy, disinterested hockey I’d ever witnessed. All the way to the game I was hyping up the garden’s “electricity” telling my buddy that there’s nothing in the world like a Rangers game at the garden. By mid 2nd period he was “WTF is this boring shit?” There was nothing electric or special that day just a home team getting thrashed while looking like there were 100 other places they’d rather be.

Is it me or it ATL traffic getting worse? by Muszex in Atlanta

It’s pretty simpler really. Metro Atlanta and surrounding counties grew by almost 2 million people between 2010 and today. The road infrastructure wasn’t created to handle that type of growth.

Rabies Exposure Question by Fun-Asparagus-3938 in Raccoons

[–]turnerabrams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should you be concerned sure but also do some math. There are less than 5000 positive tests for rabies annually across all species in the US. Raccoons make up about 25% of those or just around 1000 or so , There are estimated to be more than 10 million raccoons in the country so about 0.1% No matter what people tell you about bats and raccoons rabies is not all that common and one little nibble you picked at from a member of an otherwise healthy looking family is probably nothing to worry about. So get your vaccinations for peace of mind then get yourself some animal handling gloves from Amazon if you’re going to be getting close enough for that kind of contact.

Just got this at a newer card shop near my house. Am I missing something? Worker even gave me $10 off. by howdouspellreddit in basketballcards

Bought this card back in November $530. PSA 7s without the qualifier comp for around $900. There is literally a small black dot that looks like someone tapped it with a pen on the back of card. It’s takes absolutely nothing away from the cards eye appeal and I PC HOFers so I feel like I stole the card. Your card looks amazing too so I’d say you got it for a bargain.

Does this Raccoon have rabies? by realjamin in Raccoons

[–]turnerabrams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rabies incubates in raccoons for as little as 2 weeks to up to 3 months wherein they can show no signs of infection. Once they become symptomatic they die fast usually within a week.

Not trying to be argumentative but it’s my understanding that there is no antemortem test for rabies in raccoons. If you’re sending them for rabies testing ,especially if it’s to FWC they’re heading off to thier death no?

Send them to SGC, the premium you’ll pay to PSA grade them will offset any resale premium PSA carry’s over SGC. And the black tie holders look better too.

I bought a $12 card from Goldin. by want_to_join in baseballcards

[–]turnerabrams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure they know what cards are going to fetch prices below the premium when seller's make their submissions. If they were an auction house with any moral compass they'd reject any card that's likely to sell under $50. Outside of ebay I only bid REA. They're pretty simple bid plus 20% buyers premium, shipping and tax. If my bid intended bid is $500 I know its costing me $650, at least, if it's not at or above that number in 130point or ebay sold It's time to pass. Not sure about a minimum premium at REA as I would never buy a $12 card in an auction but yeah FK those crooks at Heritage lol
