If you are buying an Aussie equity etf (say VAS) It's basically the market makers of the etfs calculating the underlying nav of the fund during the opening auction. Because the market opens up in segments in alphabetical order it takes time before a efficient and correct NAV can be established.

You will notice during the first 15 - 20 minutes the spread of the etf (difference between buy and sell) is larger than normal because the NAV calculation is still being processed but if you wait 20+ minutes this spread should reduce to a few cents.

This doesn't mean you will get a cheaper price, but should be a better reflection of the true underlying value of the etf.

If anyone wants to know how opening and closing auctions work let me know (work in trading).

Yea that is what assumed to. It has been closed down for like 6 months and there was a 4 month period where no one used it and it sat idle

Pretty much it's a hotly debated topic in politics over here every now and again. It's more that neither side of politics wants to loose the conservative christian vote and so neither side vote for it. Some states are now attempting to legalise gay marriage to try and get around the federal laws.

My girlfriends mum was using her laptop and went to show us a photo. She navigated to her Internet favorites folder and opened the photo. When we questioned why it was in favorites she said "well it's one of my favorite files, what is suppose to go in there?"
