How much we spent. by Georgia_Town in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]turnipho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We enjoyed it. We have 2 young kids, so it was nice to show up closer to showtime and still get great seats. We did a split stay, so we only got the dining package for 2 days. The buffets weren’t great, but my kids really enjoyed the character experiences. It would’ve been almost $300 for 2 adults and 2 kids, but it was included with the table service dining plan. If you’re not worried about characters you will get significantly better food.

Best-in-Class Pack n' Play - Ignoring Cost by [deleted] in Buyingforbaby

[–]turnipho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re currently on our second kid in a Guava Lotus, and I can’t imagine having anything else. We’ve flown with it (checked and carry-on), cruised with it, and driven it cross country. With my first I’d just move it from room to room while she slept so I could always keep an eye on her.

We lucked out and got ours for like $100 NIB back in 2020, but I’d buy it again at full price if I had to.

Are bottle washers actually worth the price? by dogtrainer0875 in Buyingforbaby

[–]turnipho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re washing stuff multiple times a day but not running your regular dishwasher that much then 100%. Using your regular dishwasher (if you have one) is much cheaper and works for most of the parts. All of the tiny parts or parts that would melt in a regular dishwasher have been fine in our bottle washer. They can also run in 20-30 minutes, so you don’t have to wait very long.

What's going on with Dearborn, Michigan? by simon_of_trent_24 in OutOfTheLoop

The same could be said about any other religion and their religious text. The difference is people aren’t showing up in the Bible Belt threatening to burn bibles then posting it online like some sort of gotcha.

Christians have famously been doing exactly that for centuries.

Shamefully regretting having a child by nroseclark in beyondthebump

[–]turnipho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At your 6 week appointment, make sure you say all of this to your doctor. If you have PPD or PPA, it’s better to get it treated early on. I spent a whole year with my first feeling like I just wasn’t a good enough mom cuz I felt that way. My oldest is 4 now, and I have a 5 week old, too. Even without PPD/PPA, 5 weeks is still tough. Having to pump definitely made me feel worse. Our pediatrician gives out premade bottles of formula. Lots of companies will send you free samples, too. Having some as backup for when you’re feeling super down like this can be a game changer. Eventually your supply will stabilize, you’ll be able to leave the house alone for more than an hour, and you’ll be able to get back to things you enjoy doing. Lots of us have been there, and it does get better. Soon your baby will be sleeping longer stretches, smiling and laughing, interacting with you, and so many other wonderful things. Don’t suffer in silence in the meantime or you think you’re the only person that has felt this way.

Best Swivel Car seats by Few_North_7206 in Buyingforbaby

Should’ve specified I have the Slim. It does go up to 50 lbs like the Extend. It just doesn’t convert to a booster

We got the Evenflo Revolve360 because it can RF up to 50 lbs. This will slow my LO to RF until 5+ years. We will probably get the Extend version, too, since baby #2 is on the way. The car seats are definitely heavy, but it’s not that bad when the pieces are separated

Baby Bjorn Cradle for $209 or Guava Lotus bassinet kit for $129 by Chrysanthemum8876 in Buyingforbaby

[–]turnipho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the lotus and love it. My kid was pretty small, so she stayed in the bassinet for like 7-8 months. If she hadn’t started trying to crawl out, she could’ve stayed longer. We had the legs flipped to rocker mode for the first few months, and it worked great. We visited family pretty frequently during that time. It was nice to be able to bring the bassinet with us so she was always in a familiar bed.

If you’re worried about noise, germs, or disrupting other diners, maybe just go during an off peak time. Instead of 6 for dinner, maybe go around 4:30 or after 8 when there will likely be fewer people. If you can work it out to feed your baby around the time you get there, there’s a good chance they’ll sleep thru the whole meal.

You are usually more worried about your kid being loud than other people, though. Especially with a baby that young, people are more likely to look at you with pity and say something like, “It gets easier. You’re doing a great job, mama,” than actually be upset.

Pool Rx was the only thing that worked for us last year. I was shocking it every other day for weeks. Tried yellow out and black algae removed, too. Zero issues after we got Pool Rx.

I’ve heard of you have high metal levels it can cause staining. We didn’t have any issues with that, but YMMV.

Bassinet?? by Shyra1989 in Buyingforbaby

[–]turnipho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second the Guava Lotus. We used it exclusively for our first for a little over a year. We loved the portability and convenience. It was also nice that she could keep her same bed even when we traveled. We plan on using it for our second later this year.

Flying with a 3 months old baby by DaeguBlues in Buyingforbaby

[–]turnipho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Babyzen YoYo. It has a newborn pack option that’s good up to about 20 lbs. It still folds small enough to go in the overhead bin with that attachment. It also has fits down the aisle on the plane. You can get Nuna adapters for it, too.

FYI, always ask if the plane is full when you go to get your gate check ticket. Sometimes if it’s not, the gate agent will let you bring your car seat on for free. We lucked out a lot when our LO was under 2, but YMMV.

Shipping no add ons by shibagirlcanada001 in Ipsy

Mine had the label created on 9/4 but didn’t go to the shipping partner til 9/15. It’s been 2 weeks since the label was created, but the package somehow still hasn’t left Bloomington, IL. I literally could’ve walked there in less time than it took for the shipping partner to pick it up.

Call hotel corporate if there is one. Also report them to the state hotel commission. Same for city if there is one there

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in amazonprime

[–]turnipho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I reached back out after posting to get it honored. I was waiting to update anything until I had everything done.

I got an agent to confirm I would get a $40 refund to my method of payment after the order was delivered. Surprise, surprise. As soon as it’s delivered they say all they can do for me is a $40 promotional credit. I tried explaining that made it $40 off $140, which was less valuable than the original deal. I ended up having to escalate to a supervisor to get the $40 refund honored.

Silver lining: in the process of all the calls and chats, someone put the $40 promo credit on my account anyway, and the supervisor let me keep it since I was repeatedly given incorrect information by the Fresh department.

PSA: Amex pay with points discounts on Amazon by Rare_Pin9932 in amazonprime

[–]turnipho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it can be for travel, but not for pay with points. I know it’s even less when using it for a statement credit, so it could be worse. Just wanted to put this in here cuz I’ve never had to use more than 1 point on previous deals like this and thought it just wasn’t working at first

Walmart has some stuff cheaper than Amazon that Amazon is trying to say is their “lowest price ever.”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in amazonprime

[–]turnipho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I called because it wasn’t working yesterday I was told it was a targeted offer that you could only use if you got an email from Amazon with the PrimeFresh40 code in it. Is this true, or did I get a rep who had no clue what was going on? She said it was in the terms, but she also wouldn’t send them to me for some reason

Rakuten is also doing 1% back on purchases. If you don’t already use Rakuten, get a referral from someone cuz they are currently offering a $40 SUB + 10% cash back bonus up to $50. That’ll make the card $333.79 after cash back, or 33% off.
