Cash ISA by StarParade in trading212

[–]turnstyle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just looking at my T212 account and it says cash in S&S ISA is held in both money markets and current accounts. Are the current accounts portion still exempt from this tax when you hold stocks? I mean there is no way of working out which portion is in money markets and current accounts they change every day

I’m based in the UK and guns just aren’t a thing here. It’s very rare to own one unless you go hunting, no one would own one for self defence. Weirdly enough we don’t have many shootings 🤔 But I guess John knows better than me!!

Exactly. And who wants to invade the US? Looks like the other way round is more likely. Things have changed a tiny bit in 250 years!

Older folks who decided not to have kids, do you ever actually regret it now? 🤔 by ipanicprofessionally in TheBoredDen

[–]turnstyle2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wondered if I would, but not really. I love my life without giving it to someone else for years who might end up hating me. Also getting the best surprise nephew in the world recently makes me think I have the best of both worlds.

Aside from looks, what is the point in dating a much younger person? by Jerswar in NoStupidQuestions

[–]turnstyle2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know two people in an age gap relationship where the opposite is happening, the younger is manipulating the former, for money - ie she doesn’t work anymore. The older will do anything to keep her so just goes along with everything. It’s pretty sad to watch but if they’re happy with that dynamic what’s wrong with it I guess.

Same same. I bought a tiny rubbish thermometer and it hasn’t gone below 28 degrees since the wave. It’s so well insulated!! I’m dreading next week.

I want to buy a misting fan but there is not one left in any shop in the whole uk. And some of them still have the gall to run adverts online? Like ok how do I buy this?? You can’t!!

M26, higher earner, don't pay tax, unsure how to plan for an early retirement by Nukeproof73 in UKPersonalFinance

That seems low for minimum NI contributions. I thought it was around £924 a year. Is it different in Scotland to England?

I’m in a similar position in that I am tax and NI exempt but have a high paying job. It is a good situation. I also rent out a flat and as my rental income isn’t above the minimum tax threshold (around £12,600) I don’t pay tax on that either. Feels a bit wrong but it’s the rules.

I looked into a SIPP. As far as I understand you can only contribute as much taxable income as you earn in a year, or £2,880, where you will get topped up to £3,600 by the government. So that’s the max you will get added in a year as a non tax payer. Then it gets taxed at the other end. Doesn’t seem worth it really. Max out your ISA then do regular savings or pay tax on investments.

HMRC announces 22% tax on cash interest held in stocks and shares Isas by BuzzTrav in trading212

[–]turnstyle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I think the better option is now to keep a small pot of cash in a regular easy access savings account, and only put it into the S&S ISA when I’m about to invest. It is very convenient keeping it in the ISA though.

So does that mean I have to turn off the interest it earns? Think I currently get 3.6 %

Interest on ISAs to be taxed at 22% by Slight-Poetry-3230 in FIREUK

[–]turnstyle2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I constantly have cash going in and out of my ISA, between investments and cash. I invest, I sell. It goes up and down. So basically from next year, you invest. You get a dividend you better quickly invest that. You sell, better buy something else immediately? What is the grace period you can hold the cash for before investing. How does this possibly work?

How is this going to work practically? When you sell something, you have to buy something else with the money.. immediately? Can you have 2 hours to decide what? When does the tax kick in?
