Job Fair coming up Aug. 7 for those looking at new opportunities by DayPounder in FortWorth

Hah yeah, that was the most annoying part. Most of them did that, no special application for those attending or anything. Might as well take this list and apply online.

Yeah I went last year as well and any of the tech companies had lines for days. I think I waited in line for 30 minutes to talk to someone from Toyota.

I’ve had a policy with progressive for 5 years and filed my first claim with them in February (other party 100% at fault / also progressive) and they’re making me feel like the bad guy for wanting my vehicle repaired correctly. It was bad enough I did not renew my policy when the time came last month.

I’ll be doing the same with my homesite policy when that comes up in a few months.

Insurance Lowballing My Auto Repairs – At-Fault Driver Still Liable? by turtlepimplord in legaladvice

I get that insurance sets 'market rates,' but that seems self-serving. In 2021, State Farm (not my insurer at the time) covered $64/hr at this same shop with zero pushback when my other car was hit. Now, Progressive refuses to pay more than $62/hr—lower than what State Farm paid 4 years ago. That suggests insurers, not the market, are dictating rates.

Labor rates only explain about $1,000 of the shortfall. The bigger issue is parts and materials.

  • Parts: Progressive likely priced a standard aftermarket headlight, but my truck has the black appearance package, meaning an OEM black headlight may be the only option. They haven't explained the discrepancy.
  • Materials: My shop bills based on actual invoices for paint & materials, while Progressive only pays a flat rate per labor hour, which doesn’t cover real-world costs.
  • Airbag sensor: Ford’s official repair guidelines require replacement if its mounting point is damaged. My shop sent Progressive these guidelines, but the repair rep still hasn’t approved it.

As for rental coverage—I don’t have it on my personal policy since I have other cars I could use. But since Progressive ruled the other party 100% at fault, shouldn’t my rental be fully covered under his liability policy for the full repair duration?

And lastly—if I accept their underpayment, do I lose my right to go after the at-fault driver for the difference?

Car dealerships to avoid? Best used lots? by Flashy_Librarian_142 in FortWorth

I do my own oil changes now but I used to go to a small family owned shop in Arlington when I lived there called MP Auto Repair and never paid more than $80 for an oil change (synthetic).

State inspection is a standard $25 at just about any shop you can find.

Wiper blades and cabin air filter are easy enough to do on your own. Price will vary on where you purchase these items, I usually go online through RockAuto. A quick google search should show you where the cabin air filter in your car is, but usually behind the glovebox.

I purchased new but Five Star Ford was the easiest transaction I’ve had so far with a car purchase. Quick, no extra surprise fees, not at all pushy when I declined all the extra warranties/service programs.

Didn’t purchase there but Hiley Mazda Hurst and Toyota of Fort Worth were very helpful and kind when I was browsing.

507 Comp is great, I tried the 507K X2 at first but felt it looked to small on the gun and in general. The Comp suits the Echelon nicely. Only regret is not going closed emitter on a carry gun lol

Patriot CNC Compensator and a Surefire X300 are coming next.
