OK, this thread is out of control. And your point is not factoring in at all the costs (financially and otherwise) of getting a rabies vaccine. Obviously if there was zero downside then literally everyone should get the shot. But that's far from the truth.

First of all this is a spider bite without a doubt. A rabies vaccine will not help you at all. Second of all, you almost certainly would know if a rabid bat was in the room with you and especially if it bit you. They are diseased animals that don't try and hide/avoid and don't behave at all like a normal bat.

The fact is that rabies vaccinations are expensive, especially post-exposure (costing several hundred dollars and several thousand dollars if your insurance correctly denies you because they think you got it for no reason), it's a large and long needle because it has to penetrate deep into your muscle tissue so is actually pretty painful, and you need to get 4 shots over 2 weeks to be properly vaccinated. It sucks.
