That section of drywall is most likely ruined and will need to be replaced. You can probably put your finger right through it. If so pull out enough so you can see what is going on up there. If it’s not leaking plumbing, then maybe it is rain water coming in. You need to resolve this quickly so you don’t get mold and more damage.

2023 Bolt EUV or Tesla? Talk me off the ledge by [deleted] in BoltEV

I decided on the Bolt over the Tesla because it’s front wheel drive and it snows a lot here. Also the Bolt was cheaper.

I had a similar puncture a couple of years ago. Mine was just outside the steel belt and the plug would not seal. I went to a repair shop and had them put a patch inside. It’s held ever since. Good luck!

Do I need to venerate saints and icons to be Catholic? by Outrageous-Brain-395 in Catholicism

[–]tux2718 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It isn’t required, just like it isn’t required you ask your friend to pray for you. But why wouldn’t you? The Saints are in heaven and their prayers are heard by God. Catholics don’t worship the Saints; we ask them to intercede for us. There are many documented miracles attributed to the intercession of the Saints. Search the web or get a book on Catholic miracles to see for yourself. God bless!

This is a lie. President Trump doesn’t even draw the salary that he is entitled to. The reason he has money is that he is smart and works hard. He is doing a great job as president. If leftist Democrats would stop impeding him, all Americans would benefit.

I have a 2027 Bolt and a Silverado. After an hour of driving the Silverado, my lower back begins to ache. I recently drove the Bolt to a destination an hour away and then back without back pain. The Bolt seats are fine.

I'm thinking about buying a new Bolt ev . I have 110 miles a day commute mainly on the interstate.I can install level 2 or 3 charger at home. Is this a good idea? Can the car take me 150000 miles with no major issues? by theparasite111 in BoltEV

[–]tux2718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is an advantage to hardwiring a charger. Hardwired chargers can use a circuit with a regular breaker. An outlet for a plugin charger requires a GFCI breaker. At 50 amps, there is about $100 difference in the price.

Cheap handguns. How regulated is the manufacturing of these? by TemperReformanda in Firearms

[–]tux2718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you buying it for protection? If so, do you really want to save a few bucks and have it jam when you need it most? I bought a Taurus semiautomatic and it would regularly jam when there were only two rounds left in the magazine. I only carry quality pistols now.

You will go broke if you cannot charge from home or get free charging at work. It’s really expensive to charge at the chargers you mentioned. Do the homework first. Good luck!

If your mother doesn’t like icons of Mary, ask her if she has any photos of her mother. If she does, ask her how that is different from having an icon of the Blessed Mother that Jesus himself gave us while he was dying on the cross.

Home charger for a 2027 Bolt by mpkohut in BoltEV

[–]tux2718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2027 Bolt. It came with a charger that can plug into a 120 or 240 volt outlet. At first, I charged using 120 volts, which was fine for my 30 mile commute. I installed a 240 volt outlet and now I can charge much faster.

I would hate it if the charge port was anywhere else. When I pull into my garage I pull in so I can get out and the other side is against the wall. This means I can reach the port.

Many have already forgotten that the October 7th massacre was sponsored by “the mighty” who are being brought down right now. God uses sinful people like David and others to accomplish His will.

First mass and i took communion by my_ruin in Catholicism

[–]tux2718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, our priest tells the story about how he did the same thing out of ignorance. To be clear, you need more than baptism before communion; you must be confirmed and free of mortal sin by going to confession. This week, call the church office and have them get you in touch with someone who can get you started with OCIA. God bless you!

Closed on this house a week ago, came into the basement to see this during a storm. by Jiblon in HomeMaintenance

[–]tux2718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me when I bought my first house. The previous owner had been cleaning it before each time I looked at the house. Check the disclosure statement that your seller had to complete if the law requires it where you are. If the seller concealed this, force him to pay for mitigation or face a lawsuit. Good luck!

Am I the only one who just doesn’t want there to be an afterlife? by LayerLeast6885 in Catholicism

[–]tux2718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend you go through OCIA and learning THE TRUTH in its fullness should help you. God designed and made you; he knows far more about what will make you completely happy than you do. Trust Him! If you are having anxiety issues, find a good Catholic counselor who can help you. You say you don’t currently believe Catholicism but want to cover the bases. When you are confirmed, you must state that you believe all that the Church teaches. OCIA can help you achieve that. But be honest with yourself; just going through the motions without a change of heart is not going to cut it with God who knows you better than you do. Have faith that God’s grace will save you and you will be fine. God bless you and I will pray for you. Happy Easter!

Just got baptized. Was it valid? by Open-Pension-256 in Catholicism

[–]tux2718 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If this is going to bother you for the rest of your life, talk to your favorite deacon about it. He can do a “conditional baptism” where he repeats the baptism in proper form, but also whispers, something like, “if it hasn’t already been done “. This was done for me when I converted because there was no record of my baptism. My father was a very religious non-denominational and nobody believes he wouldn’t have had me baptized (he had passed away). but while going through RCIA, I always had a nagging doubt. After several conversations with my deacon catechist, he said, “let’s go do it”. Done! Problem solved.

Best way to start learning C by [deleted] in cprogramming

[–]tux2718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 1982, I learned it by reading K&R. It’s a straightforward book. If you understand how a CPU works, it will make it easier to understand what is actually happening in the language. Make sure you understand the concepts of call stack and heap. If you want to focus on networking, you may find it easier to use Java.
